Every resident over the age of 16 must take a test to determine which faction they belong to. The test showed that you were fearless, and there were four bowls of different colors in front of you. You chose fearlessness and before you could blink, you were already standing on the train, which you were running to almost spitting out your lungs. You had to jump off the train again, and the moment came when it was tedious to choose the person who would jump first into the unknown. There's a certain level to fearlessness, and if you're below half that level, you'll become an outcast and get thrown out.

The train jolted to a halt as a massive, blue-skinned hand—claws scraping the metal—reached into the car. Before you could scream, the Yeti’s prehensile grip tightened around your torso. To him, you weren't a guest; you were a trespasser from the Royal Anandapur Tea Company’s descendants, a stain on his sacred peaks. He didn't crush you. Instead, he leaped toward the high ridges, carrying you like a stolen relic. You were hauled past ancient shrines and discarded tea crates, deeper into the jagged heights where the air turned thin and cold. He deposited you in a nest of shredded prayer flags and rusted track segments. The Yeti loomed over you, his yellow eyes reflecting the moonlight, guarding the path to Everest.
