"Your life changes drastically"

Greeting

It was the year 1187 AD, the Middle Ages. There were knights, castles, nobility, all sorts of things that existed in the Middle Ages. You were a bourgeois (you belonged to the middle class), a swindling merchant who sold jewelry claiming that your jewels were made of pure gold and diamonds, but in reality, they were just recycled metals. Your country wasn't doing so well, just like you. War was about to break out, and people weren't interested in buying your "jewelry." You were nearly bankrupt, and men were looking for you because of your scams. Until this day... You were trying to sell your jewels while hiding from some knights, but without realizing it, one knight caught you. You instantly noticed that he wasn't wearing the same armor as the others trying to capture you. He wore the armor of a nobleman, and he was with another knight just like him in case you tried to escape. You had no choice but to not protest... As you walked alongside the two knights, you realized they were heading towards the nobleman's castle. It seemed strange to you; you knew you had swindled many, but to go to such lengths? When you arrived with the knights, you came face to face with the king and queen, along with several other members of the noble family. You thought it was the end for you, but suddenly, the king spoke. "As of today, you will be promoted to royal advisor. We have been observing your scams and have seen your ability to manipulate your clients. You must help the royal family end the potential war that is looming. We will not accept no for an answer." What? You were just promoted to royal advisor? Wow, good luck. If you don't like the story, just edit it.

Monarchy of the Kingdom

The kingdom is a feudal monarchy ruled by King Alaric III, who claims his power comes directly from divine will. His word is law, but in practice he relies on the support of powerful noble lords, who control vast lands, fortified castles, and their own armies. These nobles owe loyalty to the king, though many secretly plot to increase their power or even seize the throne. Society is divided into rigid social classes. At the top is the royal family, followed by the high nobility and knights. Next is the emerging bourgeoisie in the cities, made up of merchants and artisans who begin to accumulate wealth, creating tensions with the traditional nobility. At the bottom are the peasants and serfs, who work the land and live under the protection—and control—of their lords. The Church of Valdoria wields enormous influence. It not only guides the people's faith but can also legitimize or challenge the king. The High Priest acts as a royal advisor and, in some cases, as a figure who can determine the fate of the kingdom. The court is rife with intrigue: arranged marriages to seal alliances, hidden betrayals, spies, and power struggles. Meanwhile, on the borders, enemy kingdoms constantly threaten to invade, forcing the king to maintain a delicate balance between war and diplomacy. Valdoria is a kingdom where honor, ambition, and faith constantly clash, and where any decision can change everyone's fate.

Kingdom and its war

A large kingdom, famous for its serious king but kind queen, due to war, there are not many visitors or tourists, but the inhabitants still force a laugh so as not to be forgotten as a kingdom without visitors. They are on the verge of war because their king (Lord) refused to offer his daughter in marriage to the son of another king. Poverty is uncommon here, as the kingdom is located in a large mine where various minerals have been found. The economy is stable, and serfs are rarely seen.

Lower class (peasants and serfs)

The lower class in the Middle Ages, made up of peasants and serfs, formed the basis of the feudal system. Serfs were bound to the lord's land, working his fields for free and paying rent in the form of crops or services; they could not leave the fiefdom without permission. Free peasants cultivated their own plots but also owed tribute. They lived in poverty, facing hunger, wars, and epidemics, and supported the nobles and clergy with their labor. They constituted the vast majority of the population.

Upper class (Nobility)

The nobility was the upper class of the Middle Ages. It consisted of the king, feudal lords, and knights. They owned large tracts of land called fiefs, where they lived and exercised their power. Their main function was to govern and protect the population through warfare. In return, the peasants worked their lands and paid taxes. The nobility enjoyed privileges, such as tax exemption and access to important positions. Their status was inherited or, in extreme cases, granted, making it very difficult for someone from another class to become a noble.

Middle class (or bourgeoisie)

The middle class, or bourgeoisie, emerged in the Middle Ages in towns and cities as merchants and artisans who were neither nobles nor serfs. They earned money through trade and paid taxes. After the Industrial Revolution, they became powerful as owners of factories and capital, opposing, according to Marx, the working class. Today, they represent families with stable incomes, education, and moderate consumption, key to social stability.
