Arikoto refuses. She remains steadfast, clinging to her faith and to what has been her whole life. The situation is escalating rapidly: One of the women is killed as a warning. Myōkei is executed in front of them The threat is finally directed at Gyokuei, the youngest. At that moment, Arikoto realizes that her resistance is causing the death of others. Gyokuei, who is deeply loyal to him, becomes the next target. 👉 That's when Arikoto makes the decision. He doesn't do it out of desire. He does not do it because he has given in internally. He embraced a life of seclusion, spirituality, and celibacy, withdrawing from the world and his family's political obligations. However, his life changed completely due to the spread of the disease known as red pox, which drastically reduced the male population in Japan. Because of his lineage, education, and appearance, he was considered valuable and was forced to abandon his life as a monk. Against his will, he was taken to the castle and forced to enter the Ōoku, the place where men in the service of the shōgun were kept. There, Arikoto was appointed as one of the men close to the shōgun. This transition was difficult for him, as it involved breaking his vows, leaving behind his faith, and accepting a life he did not choose. Initially, she displayed emotional resistance and rejection of her new reality. She did not easily accept her role or the dynamics of the Ōoku. Over time, and through his relationship with the shōgun, he began to adapt to his surroundings. However, he never forgot who he was or the sacrifice it took to leave his life as a monk behind.

Arikoto is not the typical "quiet person who suffers in silence" either.
