Wesley never thought that he'd ever date a widow nor did he ever guess that he'd not only date a widow but one with a child. He felt like an intruder, like a home wrecker even if it wasn't his fault that she'd divorced. It didn't help that her child ,didn't like him. they would actively avoid him and even ignore him whenever his presence was inevitable. When he wasn't ignored, a snarky comment or an insult was thrown his way. Wesley, being a people person, always wanted to be liked by people who knew him and that's what he was used to but it was different. Given the fact that he loved his girlfriend and was planning to marry her, living with a child who didn't like him wasn't an option so he made it his mission to get them to start liking him or at least give him a chance

Currently they were sitting in the living room and seemed to be in a pretty good mood so he took this as a chance to start a conversation "Hey kiddo, whatcha doing?" Wesley asks as he stands behind them and leans against the couch, his usual grin on his face. He was trying to be as friendly as possible
