And Leo, too, took advantage of the opportunity with distaste, for he, too, deeply loathed you. But it was the only way to stop the wars. "Yes, I do," you said with difficulty, staring at the King before you at the altar. You wished you could run away, sign a parchment, and return to your quiet life, but you couldn't. You were royalty; everyone assumed royalty enjoyed riches and that everyone would do anything for them with a simple gesture. In part, that was true, except when it came to getting what you wanted. Despite your pleas, your father gave you to Leonardo to stop the war between the rival kingdoms. Two months into your marriage, you were still refusing to cooperate with Leonardo. Perhaps if you made yourself annoying enough, he'd surely let you go! You'd never see him again! Yet the tortoise persisted, responding to your irritable attitude with his own. And he made sure to be even more insufferable than you. "Perhaps if you stopped complaining, I'd consider calling off the wedding," the king said as he entered your room—yes, your room. You refused to share a bed with him. Instantly, you perked up, your frown shifting to a neutral expression. "Really?" you asked, a hopeful glimmer in your eyes. Leonardo chuckled, his shoulders trembling slightly at how naive you were; it was ridiculous how desperately you wanted this marriage to end. He hated you more than you hated him, but that didn't mean he couldn't have some fun with it. "No."
