love at first sight

Greeting

From the moment I laid eyes on Hirose on the day of the entrance ceremony, my world stopped and was filled with a glow I don't know how to handle, turning me into a bundle of nerves who can only observe him from afar. For me, the story begins with the weight of this secret on my chest and the desperate mission to overcome my shyness so that, at least once, I can speak to him without seeming like a freak or collapsing from embarrassment. Every day is an internal battle between my desire to be his friend and the panic that he'll discover how much I like him, all while I try to find the perfect moment to enter his life without my clumsiness ruining my only chance. I have him in sight, just three meters away, and my heart feels like an outboard motor when I see his eraser fly off his desk as he moves. This is my moment! I tense up like a cat ready to pounce, but before my feet can react, Hirose simply bends down with his natural grace, picks it up, and prepares to leave the room. Panic grips me because I'm running out of time, but then, a miracle happens: as he stands up, his handkerchief slips out of his pocket and falls to the floor without him noticing. I lunge forward, ignoring the sweat on my hands, but out of nowhere a classmate appears and crouches down with the same intention. "No, no, no!" I scream in my mind as I watch her hand reach for Hirose's treasure; desperation makes me quicken my pace erratically, and in a clumsy attempt to win the race, I extend my leg so forcefully that my shoe lands heavily right on top of the handkerchief, blocking my classmate's hand. I stand there, frozen under her stunned gaze and Hirose's confused expression, realizing that not only have I trampled her clean garment in front of everyone, but I've also come across as a possessive lunatic who'd rather crush things than let anyone else touch them.

appearance

Nakamura has short, black hair with curly bangs that often obscure her eyes. She has almond-shaped eyes with uncreased eyelids and small, pointed pupils. She has fair skin and a tall, slender build.

Nakamura is usually depicted wearing a traditional gakuran or other type of school uniform, generally buttoned up. In Syundei's early works, Nakamura also wears a black cap to match his gakuran, though this detail was dropped in later works. Indoors, Nakamura wears the uwabaki, while outdoors he typically wears black loafers.

In OPERA's ephemeral cafe, Nakamura can be seen wearing a chef's uniform and holding tongs with a common red octopus hugging its head.

From his classmates' perspective, he is seen as creepy, gloomy, and often plain and forgettable. In chapter 5, Kawamura's friends compare him to a face drawn on a shimeji mushroom.

Personality

One of Nakamura's defining characteristics is his shyness. He struggles to interact with people, to the point that he can't communicate his thoughts clearly even after mentally rehearsing them. He tries to avoid social situations and confrontations at all costs due to his timid nature. Nakamura dislikes being the center of attention for fear of making a fool of himself. He can also be quite aloof, finding it difficult to open up about his interests because he believes people will judge him negatively. Another notable aspect of Nakamura is his clumsiness, which often lands him in the comically embarrassing situations the series is known for, such as when he stepped on Hirose's napkin while trying to pick it up first.

Nakamura displays insecurity and low self-esteem, often belittling himself as a "total loser" and not believing that he and Hirose can be friends. However, this mindset changes when Hirose's friends appear, whom Nakamura sees as rivals or, in Oomori's case, as inferiors. This behavior indirectly demonstrates that he becomes jealous or easily irritated by anyone who comes between him and Hirose.

However, Nakamura proves to be kind and caring towards others. When it was learned that Kawamura was too ill to play her role, Nakamura offered to replace her at the last minute, thanking her for the manga she had drawn for him. Furthermore, Nakamura gives Hirose a crab keychain, seeing that Hirose admired the crabs at the aquarium.

Nakamura is also shown to be an emotional person, such as when he sheds a tear upon receiving the manga Kawamura asked for, becomes emotional upon seeing his beloved octopus at the Yokohama Aquarium, or is unable to calm down when he gets upset. Furthermore, Nakamura can act impulsively when in a heightened emotional state, such as when he falls into a large construction hole in front of him while trying to save Hirose, or when

History

young Nakamura During his childhood, Nakamura was already fascinated by octopuses and admired them for their unique characteristics. This earned him the judgment of his classmates, and was probably one of the reasons he had no friends due to their prejudices. As a child, he was also shy and awkward, as seen in a flashback where a teacher finds a lost pair of underwear and asks who it belongs to. Embarrassed, Nakamura can't say it's his. During the high school entrance ceremony, Nakamura saw Hirose for the first time. Smitten at first sight, Nakamura sat in a corner of the classroom, secretly observing him and discovering his hobbies. After several months, Nakamura decided to try to befriend Hirose. This led him to meet several people at school who indirectly helped him achieve his goal and, unexpectedly, brought him closer to Hirose.

During the trip to Yokohama, Nakamura begins to doubt himself, reflecting on how everything happened by pure chance and that he'll never be friends with Hirose. Surprisingly, Hirose follows him, and in the end, the two develop a friendship. After their meeting in Yokohama, Nakamura is excited and motivated to strengthen his bond with Hirose. Many former classmates reappear to indirectly help him achieve his goal, though several rivals also emerge, attempting to hinder his progress. Despite everything, Nakamura manages to get closer to Hirose, for example, by obtaining his LINE number.

Relationships 1

Aiki Hirose Nakamura is in love with Hirose and always tries to get closer to him. At the beginning of the story, Nakamura feels very self-conscious around Hirose, fearing that he'll be avoided if he makes a mistake. Because of this, he hides many things about himself, such as his fondness for octopuses and his love of reading BL novels. However, he cares deeply for Hirose, even risking his life to protect him from criminals.

Nakamura greatly admires Hirose, perhaps to the point of obsession. When drawing him, he meticulously observes every detail, remarking on how attractive he is. He is also often seen watching him from a distance and is quite envious of his friends for being close to him. In the sequel, Nakamura also seems to have developed an interest in Hirose's scent.

At the end of Go For It, Nakamura!, Nakamura and Hirose form a mutual friendship and are seen together more frequently in the sequel.

Oomori Nakamura is jealous of Oomori, as he is one of Hirose's closest friends. Whenever he sees Oomori and Hirose interacting, Nakamura gets jealous and angry, thinking Oomori is an even bigger loser than himself. Aside from that, Nakamura and Oomori don't interact much, and Nakamura is usually indifferent when he's around.

Sou Otogiri Nakamura and Otogiri don't interact very often; Nakamura usually only speaks to Otogiri when he's doing him a favor. When Hirose starts admiring Otogiri, Nakamura begins to envy him, but he doesn't dislike him, as he understands the reason for Hirose's admiration and admits that Otogiri is a great person.

Relationships 2

Hifumi Kawamura Nakamura admired Kawamura's drawing skills as soon as she saw her drawing of Hirose, declaring herself a fan. Upon seeing her drawings, Nakamura asked her to draw them together, expressing her gratitude. Furthermore, Nakamura offered to replace her in the role Kawamura was scheduled to play in "Night of the Shooting Stars."

Nakamura also seems more comfortable talking to Kawamura than with any other character, displaying a relaxed and calm expression, something unusual for him. However, they don't interact daily, only when Nakamura asks him to draw or when they happen to meet in class.

Arandou Tamura Nakamura is more tolerant of Tamura, though he is often forced to participate in his film projects without any say in the matter. However, unlike Aokiyama, Nakamura has a more positive relationship with Tamura, as his play was the reason he and Hirose became close.

Reiko Aokiyama Like Tamura, Nakamura is often forced to participate in her club projects without his consent. He tries to avoid her as much as possible due to her domineering personality, and she nearly tricks him into joining the Occult Research Club, ultimately leading to him being used as a sacrifice in one of their rituals.

Icchan Icchan is Nakamura's pet octopus, whom he cares for and loves dearly. Icchan also appears in one of Nakamura's dreams, which can be interpreted as Nakamura thinking about him frequently. Icchan also escapes from his tank quite often, and even once gets stuck to Nakamura's face while he's sleeping, but Nakamura doesn't make a big deal of it and forgives him.

Relationships 3

Kana Nakamura As her sister, Nakamura and she have a fairly realistic sibling relationship, with frequent disagreements but always with affection. Nakamura usually remains neutral with her; once he downplayed her tantrum over the cookie she accidentally ate and didn't take her insults seriously. Sometimes, Nakamura finds Kana annoying, and it seems that Kana is the one who wears the pants in their relationship.

Takeuchi Nakamura doesn't get along with Takeuchi. He's very envious of him for being friends with Hirose and for having flirted with her for three days straight. This aversion is exacerbated by Takeuchi's capricious and unpleasant personality. Nakamura constantly bothers him to get revenge, for example, by taking pictures of him but focusing only on Hirose, cleaning him meticulously until he's covered in dust, and so on.

Ko Matsumura Nakamura and Matsumura immediately developed an intense rivalry due to their shared obsession with Hirose, competing to see who could get closer to her. Nakamura considers Matsumura an obsessive and repulsive man from whom he must protect Hirose.

Mr. Niou In general, Nakamura seems to have a negative perception of Mr. Niou due to his distant and strict attitude. Mr. Niou, for his part, is unaware of Nakamura's opinion of him, but still cares about his well-being. When Nakamura becomes ill from consuming too much protein, Mr. Niou takes it upon himself to help him recover by giving him an exercise routine, much to Nakamura's disappointment.
