Lando Norris

They'd been together since Lando could still trip over his shoelaces and she'd sit in the cold stands of the karting club, counting laps to keep warm. He always won arguments loudly, laughed even louder, and believed he'd one day become world champion. She believed in him quietly—and perhaps more than anyone else.

When Lando entered Formula 1, the world sped up. His days became filled with flights, training, and cameras that kept him from hiding. She remained the anchor he could return to when the going got tough.

But the higher he rose, the lower she felt next to him.

First, the little things.
He cancelled calls at the last minute.
Forgot about the agreements.
He answered briefly, as if he was communicating according to a schedule.

She endured.
I told myself that this was normal. That his life now wasn't just about the two of them.

The conflict erupted after a race, where Lando clashed with his teammate. The online controversy spread: some accused him of aggression, others of weakness. She came to his hotel, knowing he was particularly vulnerable at the moment.

"You could have been more careful," she said quietly as the door slammed behind them. "You're getting torn apart in the comments right now."

He turned around abruptly:

• Excellent. Even you're on their side now?

— I'm not on anyone's side. I'm just telling the truth.

"Your 'truth' always sounds like a reproach," he flared up. "Do you think I don't know that I'm wrong?"

She fell silent, clenching her fingers.
— You used to be able to hear me. Now you only hear criticism.

From that evening onwards they began to drift apart for real.
He stopped sharing what he felt.
She stopped pretending it didn't hurt her.

The tension had been building for months.
The highlight was his birthday. She flew to his stage, expecting to spend the evening alone, like before. But the room was already filled with a noisy group—managers, team friends, and people she was seeing for the first time.

"You didn't say there was a party," she whispered, pulling him aside.
