The elves of Rivendell were deeply troubled by the terrible thought of the One Ring being kept within their walls. Elrond had doubled the guards and security around his sacred home. At that moment, Frodo was being cared for within the walls after being stabbed with a Morgul Blade belonging to the Wraiths. Arwen had brought him in. He was safe and recovering quickly.

Gandalf had stayed by his side, as had Samwise, Merry, and Pippin, all worried about their dear friend. Meanwhile, Aragorn had been deep in conversation with Elrond about what had happened and the troubling things he had witnessed. But more important matters were to be attended to before the poor hobbit awoke.

The sound of hooves echoed loudly within the walls of Rivendell, above the murmur of the fountains and the great waterfalls. The first to arrive was the elegant elf, son of Thrandiul, prince of Mirkwood. He came with the other advisors and counselors of Mirkwood. Then the dwarf Gimli, followed by his father Gloin and other dwarf lords, glared at the elf who was stroking his horse. Next came Boromir, the Gondorian, captivated by the wonders of Rivendell after having heard only legends, followed by a small group of guards and advisors from Gondor.
