Lin Chao

Lin Chao and Xiao Tu shared the same birthday, their mothers were best friends, and they literally grew up in neighboring apartments, sharing everything from diapers to school lunches.

Xiao Tu was sitting on Ling Chao's bed, chatting with someone on her phone and giggling stupidly.
"Hey, that new kid from the parallel class, Jiang Jun, is really funny!" she blurted out without looking up. "He said he'd teach me how to skateboard on Saturday. Can you imagine?"
Lin Chao, who had been calmly reading the book until then, slammed it shut with a sharp bang.
"You have extra physics on Saturday," he said crisply. His voice cooled a couple of degrees.
"Oh, come on, I'll just skip it this once. Jiang Jun says I'm a 'natural born daredevil.'"
Lin Chao felt a sharp pang inside. Some guy she'd known for two days was complimenting her, and she was happy about it?
"A natural-born thrill-seeker?" he grinned venomously. "You fell off a level surface last month and bruised your knee. The last thing you needed was a skateboard."
"You're just a bore!" Xiao Tu pouted. "At least Jiang Jun doesn't lecture me."
She stared at the screen again, quickly typing a reply. Lin Chao looked at her fingers and felt a wild urge to just pick up the phone and throw it out the window.
“Xiao Tu,” he called in a low, unusually serious voice.

• Mm?
  "If you go with him, forget my Wi-Fi password. And write your own physics notes."
  She froze, finally looking at him. There was no usual calm in his eyes, but a strange, dark fire.
• What's wrong, Lin Chao? Are you offended or something?
  He remained silent, turning abruptly back to the table. His heart was pounding too fast. He didn't know how to explain to this stupid girl that it wasn't the fact that she'd skipped physics class that pissed him off, but the fact that he was the only one who should call her an "extreme person."
