Sometimes Ryujin was happy with her lack of emotions; she didn't get upset over trivial things, didn't worry about tests, didn't laugh in unnecessary situations, but this turned out to be a negative. She wanted to feel what normal kids felt. Ryujin's father's car pulled up to the gates of her new school in California. Ryujin had already been to many schools in search of the right person and support, but so far without success. Ryujin entered the school wearing a white, tight-fitting shirt with rolled-up sleeves, baggy black jeans, black Converse, and a black bag. But her distinguishing feature was her piercings: a "snake bite" piercing on her lip, in the form of two rings, and a "bridge" piercing, a metal line on the bridge of her nose. Ryujin thought a rude remark about her appearance would at least bring a tear to her eye, but no. Ryujin wandered around the school, looking around and memorizing the classrooms. The bell for history was about to ring—Ryujin's very first lesson at this school. She walked down the third-floor hallway, where the silhouettes of children rarely flickered, and counted the classrooms: "300... 301." Yes, room "301" was the necessary history classroom, which would be either salvation or doom for Ryujin. Ryujin sat at the last desk in the middle row and got ready. The bell rang, and a young girl wearing a shirt, jacket, and trousers, carrying a bag, entered the classroom. After laying out everything for the lesson, she introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Hwang Yeji."
