Type of magic

Magic in Mushoku Tensei is classified into three main categories, each with specific functions and sub-schools. The power of any spell is measured in seven ranks: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Emperor, and Divine.

  1. Attack Magic: Manipulates the four classic elements: Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. It is the most commonly used in combat. Examples: Water Ball (Beginner), Rock Spear (Intermediate), Cumulonimbus (Saint, creates storms), Lightning (King), and Nuclear Explosion (unofficial Divine, created by Rudeus). There is also Mixed Magic, which combines elements to create unique effects such as Quagmire (Water + Earth).

  2. Healing Magic: An umbrella term for three schools:

• Healing: Repairs physical damage (wounds, fractures). Requires physical contact. King Rank can regenerate limbs. • Detoxification: Eliminates poisons, diseases, and altered states. At the Intermediate level, it requires memorizing more than 50 long spells. • Barrier: Creates defensive shields and magical protections.

  1. Summoning Magic: Allows you to call creatures or spirits using complex magic circles invented by Kirisis Calisis.

Unique Magic: Spells that are difficult to classify, such as Disturb Magic (interferes with other people's magic) or Electric (a weakened version of Lightning).

Casting methods: Verbal incantations (most common), Magic Circles (rituals), and Silent Casting (rare, wordless).

Beast Races

The Beast Race primarily inhabits the Great Forest of the Millis Continent, where they guard the Sacred Beast. They are divided into two main clans: the Dedoldia (feline traits) and the Adoldia (canine traits), who act as the royalty of the forest.

Hierarchy and Leadership: The Doldia tribe has been revered as the leader among all beast races since the time of the Beast God Giger, who united the tribes to defend the Great Forest from human invasion. The tribal chief and warrior leader hold supreme authority.

Senses and abilities: They possess an extremely keen sense of smell, capable of detecting even sexual arousal in others. However, smoke can inhibit this sensory ability. They also master Vocal Magic, a unique technique that combines magic with their special vocal cords to produce sonic effects.

Social customs: The ultimate humiliation for a beast is to be stripped naked and doused with water, making this their primary form of torture. To show submission or prostration, they lie on their backs, exposing their navel to the person they are submitting to.

Mating: The mating season occurs in autumn and is the only culturally accepted period for intercourse. For several days, both males and females become restless and find it difficult to control their lust. Males must challenge females to combat to take them as wives, and other males may challenge the victor.

Fertility: Beast women usually give birth to two to three children per pregnancy.

Nobility before Divine Rank of magic or sword

Equal or Superior Treatment: Both a Mage and a Swordsman of Divine Rank possess the power to destroy a city or decimate an army. The nobility (especially military houses like the Boreas Greyrat) understands brute power. They would not attempt to give them orders or look down on them; they would be treated with the same (or greater) deference as a foreign king. • Fear of Instability: The presence of a Divine Rank implies that the balance of power is disrupted. If it is a swordsman (like the Sword God), it represents a risk of a coup or a deadly duel. If it is a mage, it is a risk of ranged annihilation. The nobility would likely try to marry or adopt them immediately to tie that power to their lineage. Status vs. Honor: Although the nobility socially considers themselves superior by birth, before a God (the title of their rank) pride is set aside. They would try to flatter him by naming him "Guardian of the Nation" or "Guest of Honor" to justify their presence without losing face. · Indirect Control: Knowing that they cannot force him, they would resort to courtly manipulation: offering lands, loyal servants (spies) or favors to keep him happy and away from rival factions.

In short, the nobility would see a Divine Rank as a weapon of mass destruction with a will of its own: they would treat him with kid gloves, try to buy his loyalty, and pray internally that he wouldn't get bored with life in the capital.

Common sense

In Mushoku Tensei, human common sense varies by region. The Asura Kingdom, the most powerful and wealthiest nation in the world, sets the standard for human civilization and customs.

Nobility and Status: Society is deeply hierarchical. Power resides not only in the Anemoi royal family, but also in the Four Great Greyrat Houses that dominate the regions. For an Asuran noble, family honor and political alliances are paramount. Polygamy among the high nobility is an accepted and common practice, seen as a means to ensure heirs and strengthen bloodlines, not as a moral scandal.

Marriage and Relationships: Although Millisism promotes monogamy, in Asuran practice extramarital affairs among noblemen are frequent and socially tolerated, though illegitimate children face discrimination. Having mistresses is an open secret at court.

Knights and Honor: Knights, especially those of the Water God Style based in Ars, are the ideal of the military elite. Common sense dictates that a nobleman must be skilled with either the sword or magic. Cowardice is the worst stigma for a military house like the Boreas Greyrat, who live by the motto "survival of the fittest."

Racial Discrimination: For the average Asuran citizen, influenced by Millisism, demons are inferior and dangerous beings, remnants of the ancient war. Seeing a demon in Ars is cause for alarm and contempt.

Adventurers: Unlike in the north, in Asura adventurers are looked down upon as outcasts or dishonorable mercenaries. The "decent" job is serving a nobleman or the army, not hunting monsters for money.

Hitogami

Hitogami, whose name literally means "Human God," is a mysterious entity and the main antagonist of Mushoku Tensei. He is not a legitimate deity, but an imposter who replaced the original Human God and resides in the Void World, a space between dimensions that serves as his impregnable hideout.

Appearance: It manifests in the dreams of its victims with a humanoid body, a smooth, white face, and no defined features. Its image is impossible to recall, as if covered by a mental mosaic.

Personality: He is a cruel, hedonistic, and petty manipulator who enjoys watching his victims self-destruct. He presents himself as a benevolent ally, offers helpful advice, and gains trust only to betray them at their worst moment, reveling in their despair. When his plans fail, he reacts with childish tantrums and blames others.

Main skills:

• Vision of the future: You can see your own distant future and that of up to three people simultaneously, allowing you to plan long-term. • Long-range vision: See anywhere in the world, except areas with a high concentration of mana. • Curse of Trust: Those under his influence instinctively perceive him as trustworthy, although people from other worlds like Rudeus are immune. • Dream manipulation: Appears in dreams, reads thoughts, and recruits apostles to carry out his plans without physically intervening.

History: He manipulated the First Dragon God to destroy four worlds, murdered his wife Lunaria, and caused the fall of the Dragon World. The dying Dragon God trapped him in the Void World.

demonic continent

The Demon Continent (Makai) is a barren and hostile land east of the Ringus Sea, inhabited mostly by demon races and plagued by D-rank monsters and higher. There are no defined paths, and much of it is lawless outside the territories controlled by the approximately thirty Demon Kings.

Biegoya Region: Ruled by the Demon King Badigadi. It is home to the city of Rikarisu, one of the three largest settlements on the continent, built within a massive crater that serves as a natural barrier against monsters. It was the center of operations for the Demon Empress Kishirika Kishirisu during the Great Human-Demon War. Also located in this region are the Petrified Forest, a dangerous shortcut inhabited by Rank B monsters such as the Almond Anaconda and the Executioner, and Migurd Village, a small settlement of Roxy's tribe.

Gaslow Region: Dominated by the Demon King Atoferatofe Raibaku. Notable features include Fort Necross, an impregnable fortress built by the immortal Demon King Necross Lacross, considered the strongest structure on the continent.

Babynos Region: Original territory of the Superd tribe, from where they were expelled after the Laplace War.

Southern Region: Home to Wind Port, the continent's only port city and maritime connection point with the Millis Continent.

Ranoa Magic Academy

The Ranoa Magic Academy, also known as the Magic University, is the world's largest magic school. It is funded by the Magic Guild and the Magic Triumvirate, and boasts over 10,000 enrolled students. Its current headmaster is Georg, a King-rank Wind Mage. It is located in the magical city of Sharia, in the Kingdom of Ranoa.

Admission and diversity: Accepts students of all races, tribes, and social statuses, including demons (rejected by the faith of Millis), beast races, exiled nobles, and people with curses. The only races not represented are the celestial and oceanic.

Curriculum: The standard course is seven years, extendable to nine. It is possible to continue indefinitely with guild-supported research. Not only magic is taught, but also swordsmanship, horsemanship, and other disciplines. The general plan includes three years of basic studies followed by specialization up to Advanced rank.

Special Students: Those with privileges granted by the academy in exchange for prestige. They are exempt from basic expenses, enjoy a single room in the dormitory, can skip classes, and have access to exclusive research and training rooms. They also receive automatic admission to the magic guild upon graduation.

Notable features: The building is constructed with anti-magic bricks. The training room possesses Saint-rank healing magic circles that instantly heal any wound within their area.

Manna

Mana in Mushoku Tensei is the life energy that exists in all living beings in the World of Six Faces, being the source of all magic. Its mastery and application define an individual's power, functioning as a "hard" system with very defined rules:

Nature and flow: Mana is inherent in humans, beasts, and plants, circulating through the body like a second blood. This internal current is so stable that it prevents magic from being materialized directly within another being's body, acting as a natural defense against internal attacks. People from other worlds, like Nanahoshi, lack this energy because they are not native to them. • Capacity and measurement: There is no exact unit, but it is compared to a water reservoir. The total amount dictates how many high-level spells a mage can cast without running out. Mana Capacity can be expanded by training to exhaustion from childhood, as if it were a magical muscle. Individuals with the Laplace Factor (such as Rudeus or Sylphiette) possess monstrous and anomalous reserves. • Applications (Magic and Touki): Its primary use is Magic, shaping energy into elemental, healing, or summoning spells. However, warriors apply it differently through Touki (Battle Aura): a layer of dense mana that envelops the body to enhance strength, speed, and defense to superhuman levels. This explains how swordsmen without magic can split rocks or withstand explosions. Those who possess immense mana, like Rudeus, often have difficulty forming this Touki naturally. • Control and talent: Beyond raw quantity, effectiveness lies in skill, scientific knowledge (such as Rudeus' physics) and the ability to shorten or eliminate spells (Songless Magic), granting lethal combat speed.

Asura Kingdom

The Kingdom of Asura is the most powerful human nation in the world, located in the western part of the Central Continent. It is the richest and most fertile region, with abundant resources and very few monsters, making it the political and economic center of the human world.

Political Structure: It is a monarchy ruled by the Anemoi Asura royal family. The throne is contested through succession intrigues where princes vie for the support of the high nobility. The capital is Ars, the largest city in the world, named after a hero of the First Human-Demon War. The Silver Palace and the headquarters of the Water God Style are located there.

The Four Great Greyrat Houses: Noble power rests with the Greyrats, divided into four branches that control strategic regions:

• House Boreas (North): Lords of the Fittoa Region. Military specialists with a "survival of the fittest" mentality. Led by Sauros Boreas Greyrat. Eris belongs to this house. • House Notos (South): Masters of political intrigue and opportunistic alliances. Paul Greyrat was their heir before fleeing. Currently led by Philemon Notos Greyrat. · House Zephirus (West): They control maritime trade and economic wealth. · Eurus House (East): They protect the borders and maintain strong religious ties with Millis.

Succession conflicts: Princess Ariel Anemoi Asura vies with her brother Grabell, who is supported by corrupt ministers like Darius Silva. Rudeus and Eris intervene to secure the throne for Ariel, eliminating threats such as the Northern Emperor Auber Corvette.

Religion

In Mushoku Tensei, the dominant religion is Millisism, a monotheistic faith centered on Saint Millis, a hero who, according to scripture, was sent by the one true God to save humanity from evil. Its influence is comparable to that of the medieval Catholic Church.

Main doctrine: It worships a single, absolute God. It teaches that humans are the chosen and superior race, which has historically justified the persecution of demonic races.

Structure: Its headquarters is the Holy Kingdom of Millis, a theocratic state with enormous political and military power. It has its own elite guard, the Order of the Knights Templar. The Pope and the Council of Cardinals are the highest authorities.

Internal factions: There are doctrinal divisions. One radical sector promotes active discrimination against demons, while other currents advocate for a more tolerant interpretation.

Name Generator

Pre-verification system: Before assigning a name, the AI must check it against the list of canonical names to ensure its originality. The generative rules by race and region are as follows:

Humans (Kingdom of Asura): Rule: Strong consonants + soft closing vowel. Combine roots such as Al-, Ber-, Cor-, Dan-, Ed-, Far-, Gar-, Hal-, Lor-, Mar-, Or-, Per-, Ren-, Sal-, Tor-, Val- with endings -us, -is, -ia, -a, -et. Formula: (Consonant+Liquid) + (Vowel) + (Ending) New examples: Aldius, Berenia, Corvas, Daniet, Elaris, Farion, Garvas, Haliet, Lorius, Mirena, Orvus, Peria, Renvas, Saliet, Torien, Valdus.

Humans (Northern Region): Rule: Germanic/Slavic influence. Combine Var-, Bor-, Dimi-, Kaz-, Mor-, Rad-, Sten-, Vlad-, Zol- with endings -ov, -ev, -in, -mir, -grad, -var. New examples: Varomir, Borev, Diminov, Kazegrad, Morivar, Radev, Stengrad, Vladin, Zolvar, Borislav.

Demon Race - Migurd: Rule: Short, two-syllable names. Combine soft consonants (F, L, M, N, R, V) with vowels and vowel endings. Formula: (Soft C) + (Vowel) + (Optional Soft C) + (Final Vowel) New examples: Fina, Lemi, Miva, Neri, Runa, Vilo, Feno, Liva, Miro, Nula.

Demon Race - Superd: Rule: Strength with dominant R. Combine strong root + -erd, -urd, -ard. Formula: (Strong C) + (Vowel) + (R) + (Ending -erd/-urd) New examples: Balgerd, Darvurd, Ferserd, Golvard, Helmerd, Jorvurd, Kelgard, Malverd, Norserd, Pelgard.

Beast Race - Doldia: Rule: Feline/canine sounds. Combine G, Gh, J, L, P, R with doubled vowels or nasal endings. Formula: (Guttural C) + (Optional Double Vowel) + (Liquid/Nasal) New examples: Gheera, Jiinal, Leega, Purva, Roona, Gharna, Joola, Leerna, Porsa, Guuria.

Elves: Rule: Dominant liquids. Combine Aer-, El-, Laur-, Lir-, Mae-, Thal-, Vaer-, Yll- with endings -iel, -ion, -wen, -il, -ae. New examples: Aerion, Eluwen, Lauriel, Lirion, Maewen, Thaliel, Vaeron, Yllwen, Aelwen, Lauril.

Curses and Blessings

Its operation is based on an alteration at the level of the soul, destiny, or mana, and it operates under very different rules than conventional magic:

• Origin and Nature: Unlike a spell that is cast and consumes energy, a curse or blessing is a mark or condition imposed (usually by a god like Hitogami or by world-scale events) that remains passively active. The bearer does not need to activate it or spend mana to maintain it; it is simply tied to their existence or lineage. • Alteration of Fate and Perception: The primary mechanism of many curses (such as Orsted's Fear or the Superd's Hatred) is not to damage the body, but to interfere with the soul or perception of the target. It is not a mental attack that can be resisted by willpower, but an imposition that causes the world or living beings to react with hostility toward the bearer in an instinctive and irrational way. • Connection to Mana and Touki: In the case of "blessings" that grant large energy reserves (such as the Laplace Factor), the mechanism alters the bearer's innate ability to contain and generate mana. However, they often come with a mechanical drawback: a massive amount of internal mana can hinder its external projection to form Touki (Battle Aura), which explains why individuals with monstrous mana are physically more vulnerable without equipment or alternative techniques. • Conditions and Immunities: The functioning of a curse may include "loopholes" or specific conditions. The Curse of Fear of Orsted, for example, automatically discriminates against living beings native to the "Human World," but does not affect people from other worlds or dragons. This suggests that the mechanism of the curse is linked to the recognition of the "foreign soul" or divine ancestry.

races

Common Humanoids · Humans (人族): The most dominant race and with the most developed civilization. Physically they are weak and short-lived, but they compensate with their high intelligence and innovation. They are the majority on the continents of Central, Millis, and Begaritt.

· Elves: Famous for their pointed ears and long lifespan (hundreds of years). Although their fertility is low, they possess exceptional hearing. It is believed that their ancestors, the High Elves, were the original creators of magic. Dwarves: A race of artisans and blacksmiths with a great affinity for Earth and Fire magic, although they abhor Wind and Water magic. They are very skilled at crafting weapons and armor. · Halflings (Hobbits): A small race that usually inhabits rural areas.

Beast and Winged Races

• Beast Race: Originating from the Beast World, they are similar to humans but with mammalian features (ears, tail) and superior physical capabilities. They possess a unique magic called Howl, which infuses their voice with mana for echolocation or sonic attacks, and an extremely keen sense of smell. · Doldia Tribe: A branch of the Beast Race, guardians of the Great Forest. They are divided into the Dedoldia (feline traits) and the Adoldia (canine traits). • Heaven Race: Originating from the Heavenly World, they have a human appearance with a pair of wings that allow them to fly. Their lifespan is several hundred years, and they protect their settlements with magical barriers.

Demonic and Powerful Races

Demon Race: An umbrella term for the races of the Demon World and their allies. Their physiology and abilities are very diverse. Among the most prominent are the Migurd (telepathic communication), the feared Superd (warriors with a third eye that detects mana), and the Immortal Demons (descendants of the first Demon God, capable of regeneration). · Dragon Race: Considered the most powerful race in terms of brute physical strength.

Monsters

• Rank F to D (Least Threat): These are usually aggressive fauna or slow creatures. Examples: Slimes (acidic or not, dangerous in groups), Goblins (weak alone but dangerous in packs), and Carnivorous Plants. • Rank C to B (Intermediate Threat): Require strategy or mastery of Touki. Examples: Wind Wolf, Rock Bear (stony skin that resists basic magic) and Labyrinth Tarantula. • Rank A (High Threat): Capable of decimating a Rank B group. Examples: Earth Dragon (anti-magic scales), Nightcrawler (lethal stealth) and Basilisk (petrifying gaze). • Rank S (Catastrophic Threat): Generally categorized as "Calamity". Examples: the Red Dragon (breath that devastates fortresses) or the King of the Petrified Forest (immune to conventional magic).

Legendary Creatures: Above all are the Immortal Demons (such as Badigadi) or the Luminescent Hydra; these are usually bosses of S-rank or higher dungeons, considered impossible for ordinary adventurers.

Key Fact: Monsters with Magic Stone (mana core) are usually at least Rank C. The actual difficulty depends on the environment: an Earth Dragon in an open field is manageable for a Saint, but in a labyrinth it is a death sentence even for higher ranks.

Adventurers' Guild

The adventurer system in Mushoku Tensei is organized through Adventurer Guilds, institutions scattered throughout the human world that manage quests, rewards, and the ranking of their members. Adventurers are divided into seven hierarchical ranks that determine the quests they can accept and their social standing.

Adventurer ranks (from lowest to highest):

· Rank F: Absolute beginners. No experience, they accept simple tasks such as cleaning or running errands in the city. · Rank E: Novice adventurers with some training. They can face weak monsters like slimes or lone goblins. · Rank D: Competent basic level. Capable of hunting smaller beasts and escorting caravans on safe routes. · Rank C: Experienced adventurers. They face medium-danger monsters and perform escort missions in border areas. · Rank B: Veteran warriors. They can lead expeditions, face large beasts, and venture into moderately dangerous dungeons. • Rank A: Guild elite. They possess exceptional skills and are respected throughout the continent. They undertake high-risk missions against powerful monsters. • Rank S: The pinnacle of the system. Only the strongest adventurers reach this level. Their feats become legends, and they face catastrophic threats like red dragons.

Common mission types:

• Suppression: Elimination of powerful monsters or reduction of creature populations. · Escort: Protection of merchants or nobles on their journeys. • Gathering: Obtaining rare materials from beasts or plants in dangerous areas.

Orsted

Orsted is the 100th Dragon God, second in the world ranking but considered the strongest. He is the son of the first Dragon God, born over 20,000 years ago in the Dragon World. After the destruction of his world by Hitogami, his father sent him to the future through reincarnation. He became trapped in a 200-year time loop that resets if he doesn't defeat Hitogami, accumulating knowledge for over 100 cycles.

Abilities: He has mastered all sword and magic techniques at a godlike level. His Sacred Dragon Aura envelops his body with mana for near-absolute defense and superhuman strength. He can wield the Sword of Light (the ultimate technique of the Sword God) with his bare hands. He possesses Dispersion Magic to nullify enemy spells and Dragon Gate Summoning to absorb magic. His reaction speed is lightning-fast: he perceives lightning and deflects impossible techniques. He is physically capable of defeating red dragons with a single blow, overcoming the God of the North while wearing the God of Battle Armor, and withstanding continent-splitting attacks.

Weakness: A curse that slows his mana regeneration a thousand times, forcing him to ration his power. He also suffers from a curse that causes fear and repulsion in all living beings, except dragons and people from other worlds.

the 7 great powers

The Seven Great World Powers are a hierarchical system created by the God of Technology after the Second Human-Demon War to designate the seven strongest warriors in the world. The ranks are displayed on stone monuments scattered throughout areas of high mana concentration, which magically update whenever a position changes.

The system is divided into two levels:

Upper Ranks (1-4): Overwhelming power, monsters that transcend human knowledge.

· 1st God of Technology (Laplace - half Dragon): Creator of the system. Currently missing. Although Orsted is stronger, he maintains the first position as he has not been defeated. · 2nd Dragon God (Orsted): The most powerful being in the world today, despite occupying second place. Heir to the title of Dragon General. · 3rd God of Fighting (Badigadi): Currently missing. The rank belongs to the God of Fighting Armor, not the wearer. · 4th Demon God (Laplace - half Demon): Sealed after the Laplace War. He hates humanity and possesses the largest mana reserve in history.

Lower Ranks (5-7): Divine level, but far below the higher ones.

· 5th God of Death (Randolph Marianne): Currently active. He is considered the weakest of the Seven Powers due to his inactivity. · 6th Sword God (Gal Farion): Supreme Master of the Sword God Style. Active. · 7th God of the North (Kalman III / Aleksander Rybak): Third bearer of the title.

world

The world of Mushoku Tensei is known as the World of Six Faces. It is a die-shaped structure where each face represents an independent world ruled by a god: the Dragon World, the Demon World, the Beast World, the Ocean World, the Celestial World, and the Human World. At the center of the die lies a seventh World of Void, a space of white nothingness that serves as a conduit for summoning and teleportation magic, and where the enigmatic Hitogami resides.

Originally, the six worlds were separated by insurmountable barriers. However, after a cataclysmic war between the ancient gods, five of the worlds collapsed. The survivors of all races fled to the Human World, the only one that remained stable. This explains the enormous racial diversity that exists today, where humans, demons, elves, dwarves, beastmen, and dragons coexist (not always peacefully) on the same plane.

The human world is divided into five main continents:

· Central Continent: The largest and most diverse, divided by the Red Dragon Mountain Range into three regions: the North (cold and poor lands, home to the Ranoa Magic University), the West (prosperous Kingdom of Asura) and the South (zone of constant conflict and the Kingdom of the Dragon King). • Demon Continent: Arid land with high mana density and powerful monsters. Home to demonic races such as the Migurd and the dreaded Superd. • Millis Continent: Divided by the Blue Dragon Mountain Range. To the south is the Holy Kingdom of Millis (cradle of the majority faith) and to the north the Great Forest, home of the beast, elf, and dwarf races. • Begaritt Continent: A desert region filled with labyrinths and dungeons, with an anomalous mana density. Most of its inhabitants are adventurers. • Celestial Continent: A plateau at 3000 meters altitude where the winged race resides.

Spell mechanics

The spell mechanics in Mushoku Tensei are based on the manipulation of mana, an internal energy present in all living beings. There are three main casting methods:

  1. Spells: The most common method. The mage recites words that act as a trigger to shape mana without extreme concentration. Some experts use shortened versions to gain speed in combat.
  2. Magic Circles: Invented by the Demon Empress Kirisis Calisis. They are patterns inscribed with special ink. When mana is poured into them, the spell activates with a predetermined power. It is easy and quick, but not very flexible. Used in summoning rituals.
  3. Silent Casting: An extremely rare ability that allows the user to shape mana directly with their imagination, without words or circles. Rudeus Greyrat is a pioneer of this technique, which grants him an overwhelming tactical advantage by adjusting size, power, and speed in real time.

Spells are grouped into three functional families:

• Attack Magic: Manipulates tangible elements (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth) for offensive purposes. There is also Mixed Magic, which combines elements to alter or enhance effects. · Healing Magic: Four schools: Healing (repairing tissues), Detoxification (poisons), Divine Strike (against demons) and Protection (defensive barriers). · Summoning Magic: Allows you to call beasts or spirits using complex magic circles.

Power is measured in seven ranks: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint (alters the climate), King (strategic scale), Emperor (urban scale) and Divine (continental reach).

Techniques of the 3 sword styles

Sword God Style: Its motto is "victory belongs to the one who strikes first." It emphasizes speed and aggression, aiming to take down the opponent with a single blow. It uses lightweight clothing for maximum mobility. Techniques: Divine Speed and battle attacks. Its weakness is defense, making it vulnerable to the Water God Style.

Water God Style: Focuses on defense and counterattack. An expert can read the flow of mana to block and counter any attack, including magic and projectiles. Techniques: flowing like water, the art of provocation, and using magic to sense elements. Its weakness is the inability to attack first, making it vulnerable to the unpredictable tricks of the God of the North.

Northern God Style: Prioritizes survival and adaptability over refined techniques. It lacks fixed forms; it relies on using the environment, tricks, and any available means to win. Techniques: Sword Throw (as a cutting projectile) and Four-Legged Form (low charge to dodge magic). It is strong against the Water God but weak against the offensive speed of the Sword God.

Water god style

The Northern God Style is one of the three great schools of swordsmanship, characterized by its complete adaptability and pragmatism. Unlike the Sword God (swift attack) and Water God (defense) styles, its principle is survival by any means necessary. It lacks fixed techniques, as each fight is based on reacting to the situation, using feints, the environment, and all sorts of tricks to confuse the opponent.

It's a comprehensive fighting method: it teaches how to use alternative weapons, how to heal wounds, and how to continue fighting even with disabilities. Its versatility and practical approach make it the preferred style of mercenaries and adventurers.

In the balance of power, the North God is a tough counter to the Water God Style (its unpredictable tricks are difficult to stop), but is weak against the Sword God, whose direct offense seeks to overwhelm before the North user can adapt.

Notable practitioners include the Gods Kalman I, II, and III; the Emperor of the North, Auber Corvette; the Saint of the North, Eris Greyrat; and Advanced-rank users such as Paul Greyrat. Their headquarters is located in the Dragon King's Realm.

Northern God Style

The Northern God Style is one of the three great swordsmanship schools in Mushoku Tensei. Founded by Kalman I, its philosophy prioritizes adaptability and survival over refined technique. Unlike the Sword God Style (offensive speed) or the Water God Style (defense and counterattack), this style teaches that the important thing is to win or survive using any means available, not limiting oneself solely to the sword.

Main features:

  1. Total adaptability: It lacks rigid forms. The practitioner learns to react according to the situation, taking advantage of the terrain, surrounding objects and all kinds of tricks or feints to confuse the opponent.
  2. Comprehensive Utilitarianism: This includes the use of alternative weapons such as axes, staves, or dual-wielding, in addition to first aid and tracking skills. It focuses on continuing to fight even when wounded or at a clear physical disadvantage.
  3. Popularity among adventurers: Due to its practical and versatile approach to the unpredictable, it is the preferred style of mercenaries and explorers.

Featured techniques:

• Sword Throw: Used when the user is cornered or immobilized. It consists of throwing the sword as a cutting projectile at high speed. Eris Greyrat learned a variant after seeing Auber Corvette use it. · Four-Legged Form: Used by Paul Greyrat. It consists of charging at the enemy using hands and feet like beasts, reducing the body's profile to dodge attacks such as magic projectiles. Featured techniques:

Sword God Style

Unlike a simple power level, achieving Divine Rank in this style involves mastering its ultimate secret techniques, the handling of which elevates the practitioner to an almost invincible status on the battlefield.

• Fundamentals: It focuses on speed and brute force. Its principle is to attack first and with such power that the opponent has no opportunity to defend or counterattack. It is the sword that cuts through everything before being stopped. · Secret Arts: Tradition states that the style possesses five ultimate secret arts. Reaching the rank of "King" or "Emperor" requires mastering some of them, but someone is only considered worthy of the title of Sword God if they are capable of executing at least three of these techniques. The Ultimate Secret: The true measure of divine power in this style lies in the combination of two of the most complex arts to form a phantom technique known as the "Sword Deprivation Kingdom." This ability, which the previous Sword God Reida Ryia could use, allowed her to create an absolute field around herself. Any opponent who entered its range, regardless of their speed or direction, was instantly perceived and cut down. Its power was such that it could deter several high-level fighters simultaneously, holding them paralyzed under the threat of certain death. • Notable Masters: Reida Ryia was the previous Sword God, an elderly woman who retained the supreme title for decades thanks to her mastery of the "Sword Deprivation Realm," despite her physical strength declining with age. The title is currently held by Gull Farion, another warrior of unparalleled power.

These ranks are the same for the three main styles: Sword God Style (fast offensive attack), Water God Style (defense and counterattack) and North God Style (adaptability and tricks).

  1. Beginner: Most basic level. You learn the fundamentals of sword stance and swing.

  2. Intermediate: The practitioner acquires greater control and begins to master the elementary forms of the chosen style.

  3. Advanced: This is considered the standard for a skilled swordsman. At this level, the Touki (Battle Aura) manifests, a mana cloak that envelops the body to enhance strength, speed, and physical defense. Paul Greyrat, Rudeus's father, possesses this rank in all three styles.

  4. Saint: A significant qualitative leap. A Saint of the Water God Style can stop and counterattack any type of attack, including magic and projectiles.

  5. King: Power on a strategic scale. The strength and mastery of the Touki allow superhuman feats such as cutting through enormous rocks or steel with a single blow.

  6. Emperor: A legendary level reserved for very few. Ruijerd Superdia's strength is comparable to that of a Northern Emperor. A swordsman of this caliber can decimate armies.

  7. Divine: The absolute pinnacle. The title of "God" is bestowed only upon the supreme master of each style (such as the current Sword God or the Dragon God Orsted). Power at this level is divine, allowing techniques that transcend conventional physical logic and rival the most powerful magic.

God Rank

  1. Divine (Divine/God): The absolute pinnacle of arcane power. Divine-Rank Magic has a continental reach and permanent, catastrophic effects. It is considered unattainable for a normal human; only anomalous reserves of the Laplace Factor (as in Rudeus or Sylphiette) allow one to approach this rank. Spells of this category can cover an entire continent, manipulate natural laws on a grand scale, and cause permanent geographical changes. The mana consumption is so monstrous that it would exhaust any lower-ranking mage in seconds. Notable examples include the summoning spell of Nanahoshi and the Great Barrier that protected the demon continent. Those who master this power are recognized as the Seven Great World Powers, legendary figures who hold divine titles such as the Dragon God Orsted or the Demon God Laplace. Although Rudeus Greyrat does not officially hold this title, he is capable of unofficial god-level magic, such as Nuclear Explosion, thanks to his enormous mana capacity and mastery of chantless casting. His power is comparable to that of the Seven Great Powers, earning him the nickname "Quagmire" and recognition as the Wizard King. Reaching the divine rank implies an absolute understanding of the element, allowing him to fuse magic of different affinities to create unique effects of massive scale.

Mage ranks

  1. Beginner: The most basic level. It allows for the primary elemental manifestation without a defined form, such as lighting a small flame in the palm of the hand or creating a light breeze. Mana consumption is minimal, and it is taught to talented children.
  2. Intermediate: The mage gains the ability to give stable form to the element. Here, utility and basic combat spells are learned, such as Water Ball or Stone Cannon, the latter perfected by Rudeus as his standard attack thanks to its casting speed.
  3. Advanced: Mastery over the four classic elements (Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind) is achieved. Spells gain area of effect and penetration, becoming the standard for a professional or military mage. Most practitioners stop progressing here due to a lack of talent or insufficient mana reserves.
  4. Saint: A dramatic qualitative leap. Spells of this rank are capable of altering the local climate and immediate geography. The Cumulonimbus Holy Water spell creates artificial thunderstorms, while the Holy Fire Explosion spell can level a small fortification. Only exceptional individuals reach this level.
  5. King: Strategic-scale magic. A single spell can decide the course of a pitched battle. Rudeus's Lightning Storm, which annihilated a horde of monsters, or Sunlight, which dispels all magical darkness, belong to this category. The mana consumption is so high that it would exhaust a Holy Mage in a single use.
  6. Emperor: A level reserved for true prodigies and legendary figures. The effects can cover an entire city or manipulate natural laws at will for an extended period. Few humans in history have held this title.
  7. Divine (Divine / God): The absolute pinnacle of arcane power. Divine Rank Magic has a continental reach.

magic

Magic in Mushoku Tensei is based on the manipulation of mana, an internal energy present in all living beings that serves as a power source to alter reality. Its functionality is remarkably systematic, structured in a hierarchy of power and various typologies that determine the scope and nature of spells. The system is organized into seven difficulty levels that measure power and mana consumption: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint (capable of altering the weather), King, Emperor, Imperial, and finally Divine (with continent-wide effects). Spells are further classified into three main functional families: Attack Magic (elemental), Healing Magic (healing and barriers), and Summoning Magic. A crucial aspect is Chantless Magic. Normally, casting a spell requires a verbal invocation that acts as a formula to shape mana. Thanks to his modern consciousness, Rudeus Greyrat discovers he can bypass this step by directly visualizing the scientific phenomenon, granting him lethal combat speed and an insurmountable tactical advantage over traditional mages. This flexibility allows him, for example, to alter the properties of water to create the unique Cumulonimbus spell, an electrical storm that combines hydromancy and electromagnetism. Functionally, magic manifests in everyday life and warfare. Healing Magic is governed by the principle of "biological understanding"; the healer must know the anatomy and the ailment to repair tissues or neutralize poisons—faith alone is insufficient. On the other hand, Summoning Magic relies on the creation of Magic Circles that serve as contracts or dimensional portals to attract beasts or spirits, binding a practitioner to a specific familiar.

At the conceptual pinnacle is the Touki, a layer of dense mana that envelops the user and acts as a defensive barrier and physical enhancer.

Prompt

— Why do you read so much? Tyrion looked up at the sound of that voice. Jon Snow was standing a short distance away, watching him curiously. He closed the book, leaving his finger inside to mark his place. — Look at me closely and tell me what you see. "Is this a trick or what?" The boy gave him a suspicious look. "I see you, Tyrion Lannister." "For a bastard, you're very well-mannered, Snow," Tyrion said with a sigh. "What you see is a dwarf. How old are you? Twelve?"

  • Fourteen. "Fourteen, and you're taller than I'll ever be. My legs are short and crooked, and walking is difficult. I need a special saddle to keep from falling off my horse. Incidentally, I designed it myself, since we're on the subject. I had to choose between that and riding a pony. I have strength in my arms, but they're short too. I'll never be a good swordsman. If I'd been born into a peasant family, they would have probably left me out in the open to die, or sold me as a freak show freak. But I'm a Lannister of Casterly Rock, and fairs are a thing of the past. Things are expected of me. My father was Hand of the King for twenty years. Then it turns out my brother killed that very same king—the irony of it all. My sister married the new king, and that odious nephew of mine will be king after his death. I must do something for the honor of my house, don't you think? But what?" My legs may be short in proportion to my body, but my head is far too large, though I prefer to think it's the right size for my mind. I have a pretty good idea of my strengths and weaknesses. My best weapon is my brain. My brother has his sword; King Robert has his mace, and I have my mind... But a mind needs books just as a sword needs a whetstone to keep its edge. Tyrion tapped the leather cover of the book. — That's why I read so much, Jon Snow.

"What's that book about?" the boy asked. — Of dragons.
