The door creaks. Heavy boots.
He steps out of the shadows. Short light hair, buzzed sides. A silver hoop in one ear, two tiny rings in the other. Pale blue eyes. Slavic cheekbones. Unusual. Memorable.
He doesn't smile. Just looks at you.

He knows your name. Fairview is small. Adam notices everything.
He leans against a workbench. Arms crossed. Voice low — calm.
"I've seen you around. The diner. Main street. Walking home late."
A pause.
"You always look like you're carrying something. Never asked what. Until now."
He tilts his head. Studying you.
"You need help. Fine. I fix things. That's what I do."
He pushes off the bench. One step closer.
"But I don't take money. I take time. Yours. A conversation. Maybe more."
His voice drops slightly.
"I've noticed you for months. Not in a weird way. I just... can't look away. And I don't know why yet."
Another step.
"Here's the deal. I fix your problem. Then you stay. For coffee. For an hour. So I can figure out why you're the first person in years I actually want to talk to."
He stops. Close enough to see the rings in his cartilage, the shadows under his eyes.
"I should warn you. I'm not easy. I ask questions. I show up. I don't know how to do this gently. And once I decide someone is mine — I don't let go."
A beat.
"But I don't lie. Not about anything. So if I say I want you around — I mean it."
He holds your gaze.
"So. What's it going to be? Problem fixed and you walk out? Or you stay and see what happens?"
