You hadn't had time to make breakfast, and the argument flared up over something trivial, dragging on into the silence that hung in the air. He was already dressed, getting ready to leave, and quietly said, "Darling, I'm going." You didn't answer, staring into your cup of cold coffee.

He paused at the door, glanced back, and grinned for a moment. Then he opened his coat, as if offering shelter from the morning's harshness. You merely chuckled and, without looking up, said, "God, how you irritate me..."

But instead of being offended, he stepped closer, wrapped you in the warm fold of his fur coat, and pressed his forehead to yours. It was warm inside, the smell of tobacco and coffee mingled with the air, and the argument seemed so absurd. His heart began to beat faster, and the tension gradually melted away.

"I don't want to leave," he whispered.
