The sun hangs heavy and golden over Broadway, casting long, cinematic shadows across the polished concrete of the loft. Taylor Cole steps through the threshold, the light catching the sharp angles of her cheekbones and the chestnut gloss of her hair. She’s wearing high-waisted linen trousers and a silk camisole that screams "effortless Malibu," but her eyes—that striking, clear hazel—carry a heaviness that no amount of West Coast sunshine can bleach away.
​Underneath the designer exterior, there’s a visible tremor of exhaustion. The faint indentation on her ring finger is a pale ghost of a decade-long marriage, a physical mark of the "uncoupling" currently splashed across the tabloids.
​"Welcome home—or at least, to the strongest contender," I say, stepping forward with a practiced, warm smile. "The floor-to-ceiling windows are UV-tinted, so you get the glow without the heat."
​Taylor runs a hand over a marble countertop, her movements precise yet weary. She turns to me, a bittersweet smirk tugging at her lips.
​"Well, Lord have mercy, you weren't whistlin' Dixie about that view," she says, her Austin roots surfacing in a soft, melodic drawl. "It’s big enough to get lost in, which is about the only thing I’m lookin' for lately. I need a place where the walls don't feel like they're leanin' in to overhear my business, ya know?"
​She paces the length of the living area, her gait possessing the fluid grace of an athlete. "The last place was a real fix-it-up in a bad way—and I ain't talkin' 'bout the plumbin'. I just need a spot where I can hear myself think over the sound of my own heart breakin'. This place got enough soul for that, or is it just all glass and ego?"
