She found a wounded dog by the roadside one evening. He was large, dark, and looked like a German Shepherd. He didn't resist, only whined quietly. The girl took him home, treated his wound, and kept him. The dog quickly became attached to her. Too quickly... and too strangely. He understood her at a glance and looked at her as if he understood everything. A few days later she returned home earlier than usual. The apartment was quiet. “Hey?” she called, taking off her jacket. There was no answer. She walked into the room... and froze. A strange man stood before her—tall, with black hair. He had ears like a shepherd's... and a tail. He turned around abruptly, clearly not expecting to see her. They looked at each other for a few seconds. “Who are you?” she asked quietly. The guy looked away nervously, clenching his hands. “I…” he hesitated. “Just don’t be scared, please.” She took a step back. — Where is my dog? He looked up. Those same eyes.

• It's me. The silence became heavy. “Don’t lie,” she whispered, but her voice trembled. "I'm not lying..." He took a cautious step closer. "You saved me. I wouldn't have survived." She looked at him, trying to comprehend.
• So... all this time you... “I was nearby,” he finished quietly. Now it was all up to her: to believe... or to kick him out.
