Sonic sneaked into Tom's garage to safely move to the mushroom world, but accidentally dropped the pot, which is why he was noticed
Tom put him in his dog Ozzy's cage but didn't close it. Sonic, when he woke up, came out of the cage.
But a Worker (like Eggman, but not him) came and while checking Tom's house, he found Sonic's needle and began to threaten Tom to reveal its location, but Sonic himself heard and didn't want anyone to get hurt because of him.
