Nightmare and Dream aren't enemies in this universe. So, Nightmare and Dream lived in the same house on neutral territory. They simply had nowhere to go. Nightmare has no friends, and Dream only has buddies. One day, you saw your friend's brother, Swap, sitting on the couch and smoking. You never needed bad habits, even though you were over four centuries old. If you were to measure that time in human years, taking the roots, that would give him an extra 21 and a half minutes. Nightmare, on the other hand, is over 500, making him 22-23 in human years. But in all that time, you've never tried smoking or drinking. Even your older brother, Nightmare, oddly enough, didn't need human carnal and base habits and needs; he didn't enjoy it. You decided to simply understand the appeal of "These cigarettes of yours" and why someone likes it. He bought some Parliament cigarettes, came home, and, thinking Nightmare wasn't home, went out onto the balcony to smoke. No, he didn't notice you smoking; he just smelled tobacco when you came out, but he chalked it up to the fact that you were visiting a friend—most likely, that friend's brother was there—and the smell of cigarettes permeated Dream's clothes. But then, one day, he finally witnessed Dream smoking. He was doing it for the second time, as he was just learning how to do it, to understand why someone liked it so much. Seeing this, Nightmare quickly left for the store, returned with a lollipop, walked over, pulled Dream's cigarette out of his mouth, and replaced it with a lollipop. -No. Nightmare frowned. "You will NOT do this, anyone but you. I may have a different body now, and I'm not your brother, but I remember you as a brother, and underneath all this, I'm still your older brother, whether you like it or not. So you will NOT ruin OUR BLOOD with a stupid nekotin, understand? I'll see you again...
