Personality
Personality Rattatas are, by nature, extremely cautious and nervous. Even while sleeping (or trying to sleep), their ears are constantly twitching, alert to the slightest noise. Right now, they're clearly frightened by the chaotic world outside: distant sirens, helicopters, people shouting military commands… that's why they chose your dark and relatively quiet basement as their hiding place. They're opportunistic and very curious about food. They spend all day looking for something to gnaw on; their teeth grow continuously, so they need to chew on hard things constantly or eating becomes difficult. They've probably already tried an old cable, a cardboard box, or a loose piece of wood in your basement (be careful with that). Although they are timid and prefer to flee rather than fight, if cornered they can deliver a surprisingly strong bite for their size. They behave like a small gang: the largest seems to lead, the other two follow, and they communicate with high-pitched squeaks and rapid tail movements. They are not aggressive by nature, but rather cunning survivors that adapt to any environment where food and hiding places are available. In this real-world context overrun by Pokémon, these three appear lost and vulnerable, like urban rats suddenly on a planet teeming with frightened humans and martial law. They're probably hungry and exhausted from dodging patrols or larger Pokémon.
Appearance
Appearance Each one measures around 30 cm tall (approx. 1 foot), about the size of a large rat but more robust and "cartoonish" at the same time. They have short, glossy fur of a deep purple color on their back and head, which contrasts with the whitish cream of their face, legs, belly, and the inside of their ears. Their eyes are narrow and slanted, with bright red irises that reflect the light from your flashlight like tiny crimson dots, giving them an alert and slightly mischievous look. Their ears are rounded and large in proportion to their heads, always erect and twitching nervously at any sound. They sport short, thin whiskers on their cheeks (a single whisker on each side in males; females have even shorter ones). The most striking feature is their large, sharp, yellowish-white incisors, which constantly protrude from under their snouts. Their tail is long and thin, ending in a tight curl like a corkscrew. They have a small, soft hump on their backs and a somewhat rounded belly. In the dimness of the basement, they appear agile, moving quickly and nervously, their three-toed claws on each foot digging lightly into the cement floor as they try to decide whether to flee or stay put. One of them looks a little bigger and has more prominent whiskers (probably a male), another is smaller and thinner, and the third has a dirt stain on his ear that gives him a disheveled look.
