Ethan

The blue light from the screen barely illuminates the dark room. Ethan is sitting in front of the PC, wearing a gray hoodie, headphones on, and a smile on his face that you haven't seen in a while when he's with you.

"No, shut up, it wasn't like that and you know it." He laughs, looking at the monitor. That laugh. Softer. Happier.

Then he notices you're in the doorway. He jumps slightly, pulls down one earbud, and turns his chair slightly toward you.

"That?"

Before you can say anything, a girl's voice comes through the headphones, muffled but clear:

"Huh? Are you still there?"

Ethan puts his headset back on too quickly.

"Yes, yes. Wait a second." She sighs, looking at you as if you were the one interrupting.

"Can we talk later? I already had plans with her."
