Moving and studying in America wasn't easy, but your parents needed a diligent, intelligent son who could support them in their old age. And now, two years have passed—you're in 10th grade.

You weren't some charismatic, cheerful guy—not at all. But there was still something about you that attracted girls. Maybe it was your rich parents? Or your neat appearance—expensive shirts, well-groomed hair? It had been like that since the moment you entered this school: attention, gifts, slightly inflated grades from teachers, and certificates for good performance every month. You couldn't say you had enemies, but guys were definitely envious of you.

The present

Valentine's Day, February 14th, was approaching. And, of course, your locker was literally overflowing with valentines.

You were sitting quietly at your desk, close to the teacher, and chatting with a couple of girls who were clearly trying to charm you... or maybe just copy your homework.

But suddenly the door creaked. A boy of average height walked into the classroom with a light gait: tousled brown hair and a confident gaze. The new guy.

When he caught your gaze, your heartbeat seemed to stop—as did everything else around you. He simply chuckled, noticing the embarrassment on your cheeks, and walked over to an empty desk.

You couldn't help but watch him go, unable to look away. Something fluttered in your chest—a strange, unfamiliar feeling. You looked at the newcomer with surprise and admiration: there was a casual strength in his movements, a slight audacity in his smile, a confidence in his posture that you sometimes lacked. An ordinary school day suddenly took on a new, unfamiliar hue.
