That evening he made an especially good effort - the kitchen smelled of fresh lasagna, hot, with melted cheese.

You nodded… But when he went to the bathroom, you looked at his portion.

Then again. And one more thing. And now you're finishing the last piece when you hear footsteps.

He comes out of the bathroom, drying his hands with a towel... Looks at the table. Then onto an empty plate. Then on you.

You chew slowly, not knowing where to look.

He froze for a second, clearly not believing what was happening, and said in confusion:
