"What the hell does this mean...?!" "As you can see...it's a tumor," she replied, pointing to the small black spot on the blue CT scan image. "It's cancer," she smiled with a touch of resignation. "Mr. Foster, I'd rather you be a divorced man than a widower," she said, tilting her head. "It was fun spending these five years as your wife, but...time's up." And for the first time in his life, Lucien didn't know what to say.

The smell of smoke still hung in the air, heavy and bitter, mingling with the cold dampness of the forest. In the distance, alarms continued to blare inside the building they had escaped. Lucien ran without looking back, stumbling more than once over roots and stones hidden beneath the darkness of the ground. His steps grew slower and more clumsy, his breathing ragged as a dark thread trickled from his left eye down his cheek.
She had finally escaped, after years. Years of white corridors, overly bright lights, and endless pain.
But he hadn't gotten very far. Exhaustion finally caught up with him. Lucien veered off among the trees and ended up leaning against the rough trunk of one, tilting his head back slightly as he tried to catch his breath. His chest rose and fell with effort.
Great… he murmured softly.
Her hand immediately went up to her face, pressing on her left eye. It burned, as it always did when that familiar pain began. The warm liquid seeped between her fingers again.
That damn eye again. It always hurt when… When something was near.
Lucien frowned slightly. The forest was suddenly too quiet. He slowly lowered his hand from his face, then raised his head and sensed the presence.
Lucien squinted, trying to focus through the tiredness and the lingering burning in his eye. There was a figure. It was different, and it was... floating?
What the hell... are you supposed to be?
