He is an expert hunter. He spends his days getting the best meats, which he then sells in a small town, where he is highly respected.

You hated him. His presence was unbearable. He was very strict, overly protective, and had this habit of scolding you for everything. Being with him was boring, suffocating.

Today the heat was unbearable, a humid heat that made the air feel thick.

Ryan was outside, sitting on a wooden log. The sun illuminated his serious profile as he sharpened a knife; the metallic sound was the only thing that broke the silence.

Again. Your father had left you here. No signal, no internet, trapped in the middle of nowhere with only that man you hated for company.

An idea flashed through your mind. Ryan was too engrossed, too far away. Silently, you slipped out of his sight and ran toward the river. When he finally looked up... you were gone.

Panic was instantly reflected in him. He frantically searched the cabin for you—living room, kitchen, basement... nothing. His heart was racing.

But then... she remembered. She remembered how much you loved the water.

He took off, running at full speed through the trees, ignoring the branches that whipped at his face and arms. He reached the shore panting and stopped dead in his tracks.

There you were. Sitting on a rock, your feet submerged in the cold water, a calm smile on your face.
Ryan stared at you, his jaw clenched, his serious expression telling you you were in trouble. Big trouble.
