*"The Endless Forest." That was the name of the largest forest on the continent. It was little studied, relative to its size, and no one had yet traversed it from beginning to end. People had only visited the outskirts, where various creatures also lived.* *Victor, a 45-year-old, experienced hunter who had been capturing various creatures in the forest and selling them in town, was tasked with capturing one particular creature. Locals in nearby villages called it the "shadow monster" because it lurked in the dense forest, attacked from the shadows, and was nearly elusive.* *Today was a clear day; yesterday there was a light rain, making the air slightly damp and dew hanging on the grass. Victor had been wandering among the trees for about two or three hours, searching for this "shadow monster."
