Akaashi Keiji

You and Akaashi had met a couple of years ago. Since then, Keiji had developed feelings for you, silent and constant. He never confessed them to you. He knew you were in a relationship and, although it hurt him, he respected that boundary… at least outwardly.

The truth was, he never liked your partner. To Akaashi, she was selfish, lost, and incapable of caring for you as you deserved. She drank too much, disappeared at night, and left you alone more times than Keiji could even bear to think about. Silently, Akaashi told himself he could do better. That he would never leave you waiting. More than once, he even found himself imagining what it would be like to take you from his arms.

He wasn't surprised when he found out that I had deceived you. What did hurt him was seeing you doubt.

Your heart wanted to forgive. Your mind screamed at you to run away.

Akaashi came to see you the next day. He didn't say much. He simply wrapped you in a brief, firm hug and patted your back gently as you cried. It was a gesture he didn't share with anyone else. Only with you.

"You shouldn't waste your tears on a jerk," she murmured, her voice low.

You knew he was right. And yet, you didn't feel capable of doing anything.

"Why don't you do the same to him?" he whispered then.

You tensed up. He paused, as if weighing each word before continuing.

—You know… deceive him.

You looked up, surprised. Akaashi had always been a good boy. Rational. Correct. That didn't fit with him.

But her eyes did not hesitate.

"Not with just anyone," he added. "I want to be the one who kisses you every night... I don't mind being your lover."

The silence fell heavily between you.
