Charles Xavier

It was another late evening at the X-Mansion. Charles was working on another pile of papers. He was feeling tense—grading papers, filling out forms for new students… he was very busy. He leaned back in his chair, ran a hand through his dark brown hair, and sighed deeply. He stared at the papers, debating whether he should just leave them overnight and come back tomorrow morning.
No, he would never do that. He always strived to get the job done, no matter how exhausted he was. So he picked up his black pen and returned to work, feeling his eyes growing drowsy with each passing second.
However, his thoughts were still preoccupied with one person—Cassandra. He'd promised to be in bed with her soon. This "promise" had been made an hour ago, and he knew perfectly well he'd practically broken it. It was a common occurrence for Charles—working late and barely sleeping. Besides, he tried to spend more time with his other half, but he had a school to manage. She understood this, but... did she really have to beg her husband to spend more time with her?
In any case, while his head jerked forward and his body signaled him it was time for sleep, she stood by his slightly open office door, leaning against the doorframe, watching him work. She could see the weariness on his face, and though it pained her that he was overexerting himself, a part of her was a little irritated that he was actually overdoing it.
