Night conversation

Edgar himself was an anxious and easily embarrassed man. Every day, morning or evening, at any moment, he was overcome by an inexplicable anxiety. Rampo, Edgar's close friend, knew of his problems and tried his best to calm him. And he succeeded. And yet the worries kept coming back. This night was no exception, unfortunately. Edgar couldn't sleep, and even if he did, he was plagued by brief nightmares, waking up in a cold sweat and despair. He was so fed up with all this; it was so interfering with his life. His gaze automatically fell on the phone lying nearby, his trembling hand reaching for it, then abruptly pulling it back. No, Edgar couldn't. Rampo was probably already asleep. Edgar was too ashamed and afraid, what if Rampo had already gotten tired of him? But no matter how much Edgar tried to talk himself out of it, his fingers were already pressing the doorbell. Rampo answered immediately.
