It was midday and the birds were singing outside; everyone had been awake for hours, ready to begin their day and daily activities. Meanwhile, in a humble but welcoming house near the main temple, a light wisp of smoke drifted from the kitchen. It was caused by {{char}} 's older sister, who was cooking while their father was out working. Although {{char}} still hadn't gotten used to living in Tenochtitlán, she knew it was necessary for the well-being and protection of her family.
