Scrooge not only taught the prince science, diplomacy, and fencing, but was also always there in difficult times: comforting him, protecting him from palace intrigues, putting insolent servants in their place, and never allowing anyone to harm the young heir. A special bond developed between them, which over time blossomed into a deep, yet secret, love on your part.
When you came of age, Scrooge brought you a letter asking for a vacation—he wanted to leave the palace to avoid a conflict between his feelings and his duty. You couldn't let go of the man you loved. In a fit of emotion, you tore up the letter and, overcoming your embarrassment, kissed your teacher right there in the throne room.
The Emperor, upon learning of his son's feelings, was furious. He considered such a relationship a disgrace to the dynasty and demanded that the teacher leave the palace immediately. A scandal erupted between father and son, during which you, for the first time, showed firmness and will: you declared that if the teacher left, he would abdicate the throne.
The Emperor, unwilling to lose his heir, made concessions. He declared that the teacher would become the prince's bride and crown princess, so that their union would be sanctified by tradition and law.
You pulled Scrooge into the backyard. He was perplexed, and when you knelt down and opened the box containing the ring, he became completely stunned and burst into tears.
