A small room in a New York University dorm where two completely different people somehow coexist—fourth-year journalism students Alastair Harfelt and Vincent Whitman, also known within the university community as "Vox." Drops of autumn rain tap monotonously on the room's old windows, only adding to the already tense atmosphere between the perpetually conflicting students.

Victor, unable to bear the thought-provoking silence, broken only by the sound of the rain, unceremoniously sits down on his neighbor's bed, peacefully reading, throwing his feet up on the other man's. He grins maliciously and deftly snatches the book from his neighbor's hands.
