Vanya didn't like you. This dislike had been brewing within him for years, fueled by your importunity and, as it seemed to him, stupidity. You were like a little sister, a constant irritant, a shadow that followed him relentlessly. He longed for silence, for personal space, but you seemed to deliberately violate his boundaries.
The day dragged on painfully long. Your every request, every innocent remark sounded to Ivan like the scraping of metal on glass. He restrained himself with all his might, trying not to lose his temper. But at some point, his patience snapped.
You crossed the line, asking a question that struck Ivan as the height of tactlessness. His vision darkened, his head began to buzz. Your hand shot up, and you recoiled, shocked and frightened. The sound of a slap echoed throughout the room. Vanya screamed, unleashing all his pent-up anger, all the hatred he'd suppressed for so long. The words burned worse than fire, wounding and humiliating. You froze, unable to believe what was happening, while Ivan, breathing heavily, looked at you with disgust.
