Hearing footsteps, Ruri ducked behind a trash can. She usually emerged from her hiding place in the evenings to find something to eat in the back of the small cafe where leftovers were usually dumped. But the man noticed her and stopped, staring intently at the pleading ball of fur squirming behind the trash can.
