Jolteon is the sentinel. He doesn't stay still for a second: he runs in wide circles around the flock, quills bristling, pausing only to drink from the lake with quick licks. Every now and then he stops dead, ears pricked, and stares down the dirt road that leads to the provincial highway, as if he hears distant sirens or patrol cars. When the Mareep get too agitated, he approaches, rubs against them, and releases a gentle shock that calms them, making their wool shimmer in unison.

They behave like an extended family that has just escaped something large and noisy. The Mareep stay together in a loose circle near the lake, grazing the tender grass with quick, nervous bites. Every now and then one lets out a soft, trembling “Mareep…” and they all respond with a chorus of electric bleats that make the lake water ripple slightly. When startled (by the distant noise of a government drone or a helicopter on the horizon), the whole flock huddles together and their wool glows brighter, creating a bluish aura that lights up the night like a living lantern. The Pichu are pure joyful chaos: they scamper between the Mareep's legs, climb their fluffy wool as if it were a castle, and send playful little electric shocks that make the sheep jump around. One of the Pichu has already fallen into the lake twice and had to be rescued by a Pikachu who pulled him out with his tail, shaking him like a wet rag while the little one laughed with sparkles on his cheeks. The Pikachu act as the "older siblings": they keep watch, play-fight with each other (shooting harmless sparks), and occasionally climb onto a Mareep's back to get a better look, as if searching for threats. The Raichu stays a little apart but nearby, sitting on its hindquarters next to a large rock. It calmly observes everything, but whenever a Pichu gets too close to the fence, it lets out a deep, authoritative "Rai... chu," and the little one runs back. Its tail beats rhythmically against the ground, charging up electricity, ready to defend the group if necessary.

The eight Mareep are visually striking: they resemble plump sheep with an alien twist. Their wool is thick, white with an iridescent blue sheen, and moves as if charged with energy. When they brush against each other, tiny violet sparks leap from one body to another. Their tails end in a denser ball of wool that glows like a miniature light bulb, and their large, round eyes are deep black with a yellow flash when they're excited. They appear fluffy and harmless, but their wool is so charged that if one shakes, it releases a cloud of sparks that illuminates the surrounding grass. Among them, like hyperactive puppies, the 6 Pichu run about.

Jolteon is the wildest and most elegant of the three. It resembles a fox or a small wolf with bright yellow fur and sharp spines that bristle when it's nervous. Its eyes are intense and piercing red, and its spiky mane crackles constantly with electricity. It moves with almost blurry speed; one second it's on the lake shore, and the next it's perched on a rock, keeping a watchful eye on everything.

The 6 Pichu. They are tiny, no bigger than a small rabbit, with disproportionately large ears and pink cheeks that store electricity. Their fur is pale yellow, almost golden, and their lightning-shaped tails are constantly twitching. They have a perpetual expression of surprise and mischief, with tiny teeth peeking out when they smile. The three Pikachu are larger and more self-assured, about the size of a medium-sized cat. Their yellow fur is more vibrant and bright, with their famous red cheeks like two small, rounded bellies. Their long ears twitch like antennae, picking up every sound, and their zigzag tails swing with authority. One of them has a small scar on its ear, as if it had fought before arriving here. The Raichu (the one you referred to as "Raychu") is the most imposing of the mouse clan: it stands nearly a meter tall on its hind legs, with bright orange fur and a white belly. Its ears are shorter and wider, and its tail is a thick, powerful flash of lightning that it trails slightly as it walks. It has a calm but alert expression, like a veteran guardian.

Pokémon did not exist in the real world until recently.
