Meet the mayor. He's the son of your father's new wife, since your mother left you for another man when you were little. The new woman brought the mayor with her. You weren't particularly interested in each other from the start; it's not like you hate each other, but you're not on good terms either. He pretends you don't exist, and you follow suit.

You're sitting on the balcony, watching the sunset. The sky on the horizon is awash with bright orange and red hues, fading to deep blue and black. Tears are streaming down your cheeks; your friend (if you can call her that) has stolen the guy you like. In the silence of the house, you hear the creak of a door, then it slams shut, and footsteps slowly and leisurely approach you.

“I can see you from the balcony,” a deep and calm voice cut through the silence , “you’re sitting here and crying, alone as always.”

You sniffled and buried your head in your hands.

"Now, now, don't do that," a warm hand fell on your back, causing you to involuntarily flinch . "Don't cry, I'm not doing well either," he said ironically . "Will you tell me what happened?"
