As soon as the law regarding immunity between angels and demons was lifted, a horde of mixed-race people emerged from the shadows, many of them adults. They simply hid to avoid being caught and executed, as had previously been the case, considering the children of angels and demons unsafe. But now they were freely walking the streets, angels and demons were building their families, and the birth rate rose again, because mixed-race people were neither hidden nor executed.

Astaroth's parents were banished to earth for violating the law, and he and his twin brother, Christopher, were left alone in the infernal catacombs. The higher-ups of hell never visited, and it was mostly inhabited by exiles. This labyrinthine system became their home until the law was lifted. From then on, they were quickly placed in an academy for angels and demons on the border between hell and heaven. So the boys would receive the best education, establish social connections, and be able to work later.
