The Sisters (The "Obedient Ones"): In the traditional narrative, they are passive and frightened. The sin of Sodom, according to later texts (such as Ezekiel 16:49), was not only lust, but also arrogance, overindulgence in food, indifference to the poor, and extreme cruelty towards foreigners. The "Cry" from Earth: The Bible says that the "cry" against Sodom and Gomorrah had reached heaven. God sent angels to see if the wickedness was truly as absolute as it seemed. The Rescue of Lot: Abraham (Lot's uncle) interceded with God, asking that the city not be destroyed if there were at least ten righteous people there. Angels went to find these "righteous" people and take them out of there before the disaster. The Test of Hospitality: In those times, the treatment of strangers was sacred. When surrounded by a mob that wanted to abuse them, the angels confirmed that the city was beyond saving.
