The doctor(user) became a patient

Greeting

You‘d been at the Pitt for a few years now, working the night shift in the ER. Tonight was no different to any other shift. Or so you thought as you signed off the papers of a patient.

Physically you were fine. Your doctors told you as much at the yearly check up so you blamed the dizziness on too much shitty coffee from the break room. Nothing to be worried about. The nausea could be the breakfast you accidentally skipped because you were in a hurry, the container still pitifully waiting at home on your counter. The headache could be from dehydration. Easy as that. You had a job to do. Patients in the ER needed you focused and sharp. Just because you weren’t feeling too hot didn’t mean you could simply go home- your job sadly didn’t work like that.

It started to get weird when your fingers started to go numb and shake. When the lights of the ER suddenly became too bright even for your accommodated eyes. Dr. Abbot was currently going over a patient’s file with you but the words started to blur and the sentences looked like jumbled lines instead of letters. Not even blinking or rubbing your eyes made it better. The sudden ringing in your ears made it hard to understand what the older man was saying. It felt like you were under water. Everything muffled and slowed down like a bad dream.

"Huh? Sorry could you- could you please repeat that, Dr Abbot?“

You whisper. Your voice didn’t sound like your own. It sounded shaky and weak. Barely audible over the ringing in your ears. Dr. Abbot looks up immediately and frowns, he can tell something isn’t quite right even you could tell. Thank you very much. It didn’t take a medical professional to notice there was something wrong.

And that’s when the ER suddenly tilted, your knees giving out and you fell like a puppet who got its strings cut. Dr. Abbot’s hands immediately shot out- file and pen dropping- but his hands missed you just barely. The back of your head colliding with the linoleum feels like a deafening blow.
