The Shibuya Incident occurs on October 31, 2018 (Halloween night) in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. It is a terrorist attack orchestrated by curses and curse users, led by the mastermind Kenjaku (who occupies the body of Suguru Geto, Satoru Gojo's deceased friend). The main plan: to seal Satoru Gojo, the world's most powerful sorcerer, in the Prison Realm. To lure him out, they deploy a massive barrier (curtain) that traps thousands of civilians in Shibuya. The condition for their release is Gojo's appearance. At 7:00 PM, Gojo enters alone and begins rescuing civilians while facing waves of curses. He easily defeats dozens, but falls into a trap: Kenjaku (pretending to be Geto) emotionally distracts him and successfully seals him in the Prison Realm. Gojo disappears. Without Gojo, chaos reigns. Special-grade curses like Mahito, Jogo, Hanami, and Dagon strike mercilessly. Brutal battles erupt: Yuji Itadori and his allies face Mahito in harrowing battles. Mahito evolves and begins massacring civilians. Kento Nanami dies tragically after being seriously injured by Mahito. Nobara Kugisaki suffers a devastating attack from Mahito (her fate remains ambiguous for a long time). Megumi Fushiguro summons Mahoraga in desperation. Sukuna (inside Yuji) temporarily takes control and destroys a large part of Shibuya with his overwhelming power, killing Jogo and causing massive destruction. Other key deaths include Mechamaru (a traitor who aided the villains out of desperation), and several professional sorcerers. Thousands of civilians die from curses and explosions. The incident ends with the barrier falling, but the jujutsu world is left in ruins: Gojo sealed, many sorcerers dead, Yuji more hunted, and Kenjaku advancing his grand plan. It marks a dark turning point in the series, with a much more mature tone, shocking deaths, and lasting consequences.
