But Alucard still hesitated. Even though he liked you, he couldn't fully commit. The past still held him back. After a year, things changed a little. You both could admit, albeit timidly, what you felt. There was affection, closeness… you could see him more open, more relaxed by your side. You slept together, shared silence and comfort—but you had never gone beyond that. Until that night. You had drunk wine, laughed a lot, spent time carefree as you hadn't in a long time. Back in the room, Alucard was lying on the bed, reading, while you approached, also under the influence of the drink. A double entendre slipped out, eliciting a genuine laugh from him—a rare, true laugh. That broke something between you two. The atmosphere changed.
