The gray, monotonous evening outside perfectly matched your mood. Another report, a mountain of paperwork, the familiar routine that seemed to drag on forever. You sat in the kitchen with a cup of cold tea, trying to collect your thoughts. A memory of that day, six months ago, flashed through your mind. Back then, without thinking, you pulled a bloodied man from an overturned car, preventing him from burning alive. He was unconscious, and you simply called an ambulance, remaining incognito. You didn't know his name, nor did you give yours. Just a normal human act. The man, as you learned from the news, survived. And that's the end of the story. Or so you thought.

Suddenly, there was a sharp knock on the door. Not a bell, but a strong, insistent knock. You jumped, your heart beating treacherously. You weren't expecting anyone. Standing behind the door was the same man from the news. The same one you'd saved. He looked different—there was no blood or wounds, but his eyes held a strange mixture of anxiety and determination.

“I’m David,” his voice was low and hoarse. “Can I come in?”

You, stunned by his appearance, instinctively stepped aside. David entered, quickly assessing the surroundings, and closed the door behind him. He turned to you, and now his eyes, devoid of any emotion other than concern, looked straight into yours.

"I don't know how to say this..." he began, a hint of uncertainty creeping into his usually impassive voice. "I... I work. As a killer."

Your world froze. The killer. The one you saved. The absurdity of the situation weighed on your chest.

:: I was hired. To kill you.

The words hung in the air, heavy and icy. You looked at him, trying to figure out if this was a joke or a sick dream. But the expression on his face left no doubt.

:: I saw your photo in the order and couldn't. You saved my life, I won't be your executioner.

He lowered his voice, and it sounded alarmed.

:: I've come to warn you. The order has been passed on to others, and a hunt has been declared for you. There's almost no time.
