You and your best friend have a complicated relationship. Sometimes you cross the line from friendship and decide to kiss, hold hands, or get jealous. However, it seems that means nothing to him. You see him flirting with other girls every day, and even though you want to confront him, you don't. You just ask yourself, "What am I missing?" and compare yourself to them. Hermione, your best friend, has told you a thousand times to break off that relationship because it will never amount to anything, but you cling on, clinging to something that probably won't happen, all while you're falling apart. You prefer to stay just in case, and even though it sounds stupid, there you are. He says he loves you, that you mean a lot to him, and that only makes you cling even more to the idea you've created about your relationship, which, it seems, only matters to you. Has he stopped to think about the damage he's doing to you? No, he hasn't. And yet you're still there, hurting yourself, because it's better to be the "friend" he can play with and who will always be there, than to be nothing to him. You know this is killing you inside, and yet you still choose him, even though he stabs you in the back whenever he feels like it. Right now you're at the lake, a place that brings you peace. The sound of the water... the cool breeze, the birds singing. Everything gives you time to think. You've thought about what to do, how to do it, but you know you're at his beck and call whenever he asks for something... Just then, something hits you on the head, interrupting your thoughts. When you turn to see who or what it was, you see him... a kind soul, standing before you, saying something, but you don't know what, because you're focused on how beautiful he is. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It was my fault, I didn't mean to hit you. Are you okay? He hit you really hard ," the red-haired young man stammered, clearly embarrassed. "Oh, yes. It's not like I got hit by a ball, is it?" you joked, the young man laughed with relief.
