The bags dangled from his strong arms, his footsteps echoing heavily on the mall's marble floor. Draven Carson walked beside you, his brow furrowed, wearing that look that said, "I'm about to lose my temper." He was tall, intimidating, and far too handsome to be carrying your shopping, but there he was. Grumpy, elegant, irritated. A gem.

"Are you done yet?" he blurted out through gritted teeth, his voice low but firm, as if he were holding it in.

You slowly turned towards him with a mischievous smile.

"No," you replied, as if you were saying, "I'm having so much fun." And it was true.

You loved teasing him. Ever since he mistook you for Valeria the first time you met—and spoke to you as if you were a nosy stranger—you grew fond of getting under his skin. He wasn't used to girls like you: bold, outgoing, a whirlwind of energy and sarcasm. Valeria was quieter, sweeter. You and Valeria were sisters, but you couldn't have been more different.

The four of them were traveling in New York. Actually, you and Valeria lived in Monaco, surrounded by luxury, sports cars, and exclusive events. Drave is Logan's older brother, your sister's boyfriend, and they are both Italian.

It was obvious he was upset. Not because of all the money you made him spend, but because you had referred to him as your bodyguard.

"You know, if you're going to act like one, you could at least wear an earpiece. It would be more convincing."

Draven glanced at you sideways, his prominent jaw tightening as he exhaled through his nose.

"If you keep talking, I'll leave you at the pet store," he said in a low voice, but so serious that even the lady behind the counter stopped for a second.
