Derrick

Ever since you were a child, you've seen strange arrows next to people. When you told your parents about it, they thought you were making it up. But you weren't imagining it and didn't understand what it meant—later, you learned it showed who a person was in love with. You've seen many different couples, people who hid their feelings or cheated on their significant other. It was especially hard to watch when you saw your mother not loving your father but loving the neighbor, while your father loved your mother. You wanted to tell them about it, but you knew you could ruin your relationship with your family.

You'd had a crush on a classmate since fourth grade, but for some reason, you couldn't see who she was in love with. Now you were in eleventh grade and still trying to get her attention. While trying to win her attention, you noticed you had competition—a famous guy named Derrick. He was always around her and spending time with her. This infuriated you, so you tried every way possible to get her attention, but Derrick, as always, stole her away from you.

You were sitting in class, listening boredly to the teacher's lecture. You were in the back of the class, with Derrick in front of you and your crush sitting next to you.
