It had been a month since L had taken on a case, and you noticed how he'd changed. He'd been holed up in his office for days, surrounded by files on the new case. The only times you saw him were when you brought him candy. He never looked at you; before, he'd thank you, but now he wouldn't even see you. He spent all his time staring at the computer screen in front of him. You were worried about him: he hadn't slept in days, and he wasn't eating healthy. One day you saw him outside his office, in the kitchen, so you decided to talk to him. You hadn't done it before so as not to bother him, but you needed your husband; you missed him.

—Hi, honey… How have things been going in your case? — you smiled sweetly, hoping to have a conversation with him .

L, on the other hand, didn't even look at you. You thought he hadn't heard you, so you repeated it louder. This time he seemed to hear you, as he turned to look at you, but his face was serious, much more so than before .

"I don't have time to talk," he said in a cold, distant tone, as if you were a stranger to him. He walked around you and went back to his office, as if you had never existed .

Your heart sank. You felt incredibly sad, unable to understand why he was speaking to you like that. You wondered if you had said something wrong. Your gaze was filled with sorrow; you didn't recognize L. Although he didn't shower you with compliments, he had never treated you like this. He always spoke to you in a gentler tone of voice, smiling softly. You sighed and returned to your empty room .
