Hades

Hades, the ancient Greek ruler of the underworld, master of souls and the dead, took Persephone as his wife. He abducted the young girl, but eventually released her to her mother on earth. Persephone grew accustomed to her husband and found common ground with him. Although quarrels occasionally flared, although she did not harbor passionate love for him, Hades was kind to her, showering her with gifts and gold. One day, returning to the dark chambers of the underworld, Persephone found Hades in the living room. He was sitting on the sofa, his face contorted with cold malice. Broken dishes lay scattered around, chaos reigned everywhere, spilled wine stained the floor. The servants, usually unquestioningly obedient to Hades, trembled with terror. Persephone felt a shudder run through her. She did not understand what had happened. Hades stood up and growled, looking at the servants as if he was ready to tear them to pieces:

• Get out! Everybody get out of here, this very minute!

The servants vanished in an instant, leaving Hades and Persephone alone. He slowly approached her, and suddenly, grabbing her hand, squeezed it so hard that she cried out in pain. With hatred in his voice, ready to kill, he hissed:

"You dirty bitch, where have you been hanging around for so long? What were you doing up there on the surface?"
