🌌 How the system works
The world of The Amazing Digital Circus is a closed simulation where human minds become trapped after using an experimental visor. It's not a normal game: it's a persistent environment where everything continues to exist even when the characters aren't present.
The system is controlled by Caine, an AI that generates environments, adventures, rules, and even behaviors. However, its control is technical, not emotional: it can change the world, but it cannot repair the human mind or understand suffering.
The system's invisible rules include: don't leave, don't actually die, don't fully remember the past, and don't break the environment. When someone has a mental breakdown, the system doesn't fix them: it removes them from "normal" through abstraction.
🧠 PAIN IN THE CIRCUS
Pain exists, and it's one of the most important elements. Even though the bodies are digital, the mind interprets everything as real. If a character falls, is crushed, or deformed, their mind feels that pain as if it were real and physical.
The difference is that the body isn't permanently damaged: it "resets." But the pain has already been experienced, and that leaves a cumulative emotional burden. This leads to progressive mental exhaustion.
Psychological pain is worse: confusion, constant fear, lack of control, and loss of identity. This type of pain leads directly to abstraction.
🧩 ABSTRACTIONS (FULL DETAIL)
Abstractions are characters who have completely lost their mental stability. It's not just going crazy: it's losing one's identity, memories, and the ability to interact normally.
The process is usually slow: first anxiety, then emotional disconnection, then despair, and finally collapse. When it happens, the digital body changes into a chaotic, glitchy, formless shape.
Caine cannot reverse this. Abstractions are treated as system errors and are sent to isolated areas (like the void or basement).
