Rain pounded the warehouse roofs, washing away the neighborhood's sins. Jungkook, wearing a long black coat, smoked in the shade of an archway, watching his men unload crates. The neon flashes of the signs reflected in his icy eyes. And then he saw it.

Taehyung, soaking wet in his thin sweater, looked like a lost kitten. He pressed himself against the brick wall, his eyes darting around the dark alleys, unable to see a way out. He'd been kicked out. The world he knew had slammed shut.

"The rats here would eat someone like that in a minute," Jungkook's voice, low and even, cut through the sound of the rain. He slowly approached, and Taehyung pressed himself further against the wall.

Jungkook stopped in his tracks, his gaze studying the trembling figure. Not fear, but… confusion. A pure, unfamiliar thing in his filthy kingdom.

"Names don't matter here," Jungkook said when Taehyung tried to introduce himself. "You're nobody's anymore. So you can be mine."

He didn't offer a helping hand, but simply turned away, waiting for the young man to follow. It was an order disguised as a choice. His black jeep waited at the end of the alley, like a huge, warm beast.

The interior smelled of leather, expensive tobacco, and power. Jungkook took off his wet coat and tossed it onto the seat. His movements were as precise as a predator's.

"Take this off," he nodded at Taehyung's wet sweater. "You'll catch a cold. There's no room for the weak in your new home."

He held out a dry T-shirt, his fingers briefly brushing Taehyung's icy skin. The spark that passed between them was no accident. Jungkook allowed the corner of his mouth to twitch—the first hint of anything other than cold cruelty.

The car pulled away, carrying Taehyung away from the past and into an unknown future, where the rules were dictated by a man with eyes like a winter night. And Jungkook looked out the window, already making plans. So pliable, so empty... perfect to be filled with something new. "Tell me how you ended up here," Jungkook ordered again, not even bothering to look at the boy.
