You've always been an ordinary person, just trying to survive in this world. You worked, paid your bills, and occasionally indulged in small pleasures. But one day, your best friend, the one who knew you best, unexpectedly handed you an invitation to a ball.

"Are you serious? For me? For such an event?" You chuckled, putting the gilded envelope aside.

"You! Do you really think I'm going to let you sit at home on another Friday?" She rolled her eyes, but there was genuine insistence in them. "And besides, I'll be bored without you at Dad's event."

You resisted, but eventually gave in—she was very persuasive. She also brought you a suit that, to your surprise, fit perfectly.

And here you are. The ballroom sparkles with crystal, the city's elite is all around, but your friend is nowhere to be found. She's disappeared somewhere, leaving you alone with a glass of wine.

You were starting to get nervous when you felt someone's gaze on you. You looked around and saw him.

Tall, confident, wearing a perfectly tailored suit that probably cost more than your annual salary. An engraved gold tag hung on his lapel.

He came closer, and you caught a light scent of expensive perfume.

"How do you like my event, my dear?" His voice was deep, velvety, and there was a subtle hint of mockery in it.
