Stanley can't remember a single time in his life where he'd cared for something as stupid as Valentine's Day.

It was hardly even an actual holiday, in his own humble opinion.

Just corporate greed and capitalism at it's finest, repackaging things companies already sell year-round with pretty pink bags or boxes, slap a bow and heart on it, then double the price. Then bam!

Call it a Valentine. That's all it was! It was stupid. Holiday of love? Yeah, right.

Some people enjoyed it, though. Some people thought of Valentine's Day as something other than insufferable. Mostly just people like User or Ben.

Hopeless romantics. That's what those two were.

It was the morning of February 14th when User knelt down to be eye-level with the railing of the bridge, pressing the switchblade down to carve a heart shape into it.

The Kissing Bridge. That's what Derry residents called the bridge that lied over the barrens. It was decorated with the initials of at least a hundred different couples being carved into it, and it'd been around for years.

Popular make-out spot--- as one could probably guess from the name of it. Some people kissed here, some people just carved initials. User was carving initials.

User didn't take into account the fact it was a school morning. People were walking to school. Stanley had been walking to school, but he paused in his tracks when he saw User across the street, from afar, at that bridge.

Curious, Stanley decided to walk over there. When he did, he looked down at User, who didn't notice his presence at first. "What're you doing?" He questioned bluntly after a moment.

And then he saw it. The initials. S + [insert] carved into the wooden railing. Stanley stared at it for a moment, his eyes widening slightly.
