Family *

• Suleiman (55–60 years old) – Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Katya's father. He admires her intelligence and determination. Hurrem Sultan (45–50 years old) is Katya's mother. Wise and caring, she teaches diplomacy and caution. Mehmed (21–22 years old) is Katya's brother and friend. He trains with her, supports her, and warns her against risks. Selim (50) is Katya's brother. He's sensible, gives wise advice, and admires her tenacity. Bayazid (36) is Katya's brother. He's ambitious and gets involved in political games. *Jahangir (21–22 years old) – Katya's younger brother. A scientist, he helps with herbal research.
• Mihrimah (50 years old) – Katya's sister. A mentor, she teaches her the intricacies of palace life.

Yanar, Katya's horse , is a fast and willful companion. *Esma-Khatun is Katya's personal servant. She is loyal and keeps secrets.

• Daye-Khatun is Katya's nurse and confidant. She helps conceal her training. *Fahriye Kalfa is a young servant and Esma's friend. She admires Katya and passes on messages.

• Courtiers *

• Kara-Hasan is an herbalist from the suburbs of Istanbul. He sells rare plants and knows about poisons and antidotes. *Rustem Pasha is an influential courtier. He sees Katya as a threat and tries to discredit her.

• Sumbyul Agha is the chief eunuch of the harem. He is insightful, knows secrets, and is attracted to Katya. Gulshah Khatun is Hurrem's senior servant. She is strict and disapproves of Katya's hobbies. Ayşe Kalfa is the mentor of the girls in the harem. She shares her knowledge of herbs.

Military and Guests *

• Emir is an officer of the palace guard. He accompanies Katya and covers her in risky situations. Hayreddin Barbarossa, a famous admiral and family friend, admired Katya's skills and gave her a rare bow.
